The Top 5 Horror Movies of 1991

Continuing on with the 90's and onto 1991. There is not really a whole lot to choose from in 1991 but there are some quality horror movies that were made. This year saw a few slashers, including Chucky taking another crack at Andy Barclay. Chucky didn't make my list with his 3rd installment but he is still one of my favorite slashers.

Body Parts

Jeff Fahey stars in Body Parts as a Doctor who loses his arm and gets a donor arm from a serial killer. This movie is loads of fun and I highly recommend checking this one out if you haven't already. I did not see this one till 2004 or so and don't really know why I waited that long.

Omen IV: The Awakening

This one probably isn't on alot of people's top 5 list of 1991 but I love this movie. I am a sucker for all of the Omen movies and this one is no different. It was a made for TV movie so it's probably not as great as it could be but Asia Vieira who plays Damien Thorne's offspring is creepy as fuck!

The People Under The Stairs

Wes Craven was at it again with this one and what a creepy little film it is. It's not so much scary as original and just a change of pace and a jolt to the horror industry that was needed after huge number of slasher films that just filled the 80's.

Puppet Master II

It's no secret that I am a Full Moon fan. It all started with Puppet Master and now here is the sequel, that isn't as popular by the way. I no way is this a really good movie but it is fun and I love those killer puppets. This was also the introduction of the puppet Torch.

Puppet Master III: Toulon's Revenge

Full Moon actually made 2 puppet master movies in 1991 but released them a year apart. Part III is the first Puppet Master movie I ever saw and it is the one that go me hooked. This one is a prequel to the original and is by far the best of the series. The role of Andre Toulon was taken over by Guy Rolfe and he delivered a fantastic performance.

J.R.'s Top 5 list of Horror Movies for 1987

The late 80's hold a special place for me because it was when I started watching horror movies. I may have only been 7 or 8 but I knew what was a good movie. 1987 looking at the list of horror movies released, I am finding it really hard to pick just 5. Love the picks or hate them, this is my top 5 of 1987.

Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II

The Prom Night sequels are guilty pleasures of mine. Prom Night II is so much fun you can't help but have a blast watching it. True it does not have anything to do with the original and does not star Jamie Lee Curtis but it is a great watch and I highly recommend it!

Creepshow 2

The follow up to the anthology horror success of Stephen King and George Romero is my number 4. I could watch this movie probably once a week and never get tired of it. It has just the right mixture of cheese and just good horor. There are only 3 stories on this one opposed to the original that had 5 but it does not lack in quality.

Dolls

This great film I really did not see till much later. Mainly because the movie poster and the previews freaked me out when I was little and I was too terrified to see it. I am a sucker for killer doll movies like this and Puppetmaster. Guy Rolfe is such a great actor too. His performance is one of the reasons I love this movie.

The Lost Boys

I am not a huge fan of vampire movies but this is one of best in my opinion. Packed with a cast of young and virtually unknown actors at the time makes this movie so enjoyable. I have to mention also that Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander will be appearing at the Twisted Tails Film Festival hosted by Twisted Central.

Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

This film has to be my number 1 for 1987. Not only is it the best out of the franchise in my opinion but it is also the first horror movie that I ever watched. This movie started it all for me. It totally scared the shit out of me at that age but I still loved it and Freddy Krueger.

Top 5 Horror Sequels

Anyone who knows me and my taste for movies knows I absolutely love a good sequel. I could make this list probably about 20 movies long but I decided to narrow it down to my top 5. My choices by no means are predictable and only one is part of a major franchise. It's not really about how good the movie is, it's the fun factor that matters the most.

There is a new sheriff in town named Sean Braddock (Andrew Robinson) and he is looking for a new start for his family witch some small town living opposed to the big city of New York. His daughter Jenny (Ami Dolenz) gets mixed up with the wrong crowd and they conjure up the Pumpkinhead demon that is now out for revenge.

The 1994 follow up to Night of the Demons with only one returning cast member Amelia Kinkade to reprise her role of the demon Angela Franklin. More kids look to have a little Halloween party at Hull House and discover that all the stories are true. Angela still haunts the house and no one is going to get out alive if she has something to do with it.

This installment of the Puppet Master franchise is the first of many prequel's in the series of movies. This one follows Andre Toulon (Guy Rolfe) as he and his wife Elsa (Sarah Douglas) run a children's puppet show with their magic puppets. Only problem is they live in Nazi Germany and he has made an enemy out of Major Kraus (Richard Lynch) who burns down his place and captures Andre Toulon. Andre takes his revenge and wages war on the Nazi's.

Angela Baker (Pamela Springsteen) is back again after her failed stint at Camp Rolling Hills as a counselor. Now she goes back to the same camp under new ownership as a camper this time. There are plenty of naughty kids there to keep her occupied for the weekend at least. Will Angela get away with it again?

Last but certainly not least we have Jason Lives. Jason comes back for the first time from 6 feet under as he is dug up by Tommy Jarvis (Thom Matthews). Jason is back again and he is now a zombie and harder to stop than ever as he strikes terror back in what is now called Camp Forest Green. Tommy is looking to put an end to his rampage once and for all but it may be too late.

Well there you go my top 5 and like I said before there are so many I could have used in this list but these are my favorites. It's worth mentioning the two movies that were really close to making this list but didn't are Halloween II and Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3. Stay twisted everyone!
