Official Press Release: Spencer Gray’s THE BORDER

Official Press Release:

Spencer Gray’s

THE BORDER

MUFX artist turned Writer/Director Spencer Gray’s new horror film The Border will be independently financed with private investors and a unique crowd funding campaign that will go live online via Indie Go Go April Fools Day 2014.

Why is The Border’s crowd funding campaign set apart from the others?

Writer/Director Gray had this to say:

“The horror genre is almost dead and the big studios are the collective villain. Today’s genre films are missing so much heart and originality it’s almost made me stop watching horror entirely unless it’s from a foreign market or truly indie. As Alfred Hitchcock, the Master of Suspense, so eloquently put it, ‘There is no terror in the bang, only the anticipation of it.’ That’s what is missing. Not to mention people enjoy being scared. The goosebumps. The hairs on the back of your neck standing on end. The heart racing with anticipation. The gore. Those are just a few things missing in today's horror films and why fans will always embrace the classics.”

The plot of The Border is as follows: “When the granddaughter of a U.S. Senator goes missing near the border of Mexico, former Black Ops agent Jack Barrabas is forced out of retirement to find her. Every path he takes, secret he uncovers and body he drops leads to a secret, mysterious door in a small border town. What he finds behind this door will forever change the world, and who he thinks he is, for the worse. You will never recover from what lies beyond THE BORDER.”

Associate Producer Rob Bedard commented: “I like seeing people wondering what is really going on in a world this big. The secrets which are buried beneath the complete lies of every day people. This film got my attention because it'll make people dig deep into the truth and hopefully change the way they think and what they believe.”

The Border is a character-driven story that is structured to bring back the Fright Factor and throw out all the typical genre trappings. Producer and indie filmmaker Jeremy Mitchell added: “Audiences will be in for a treat as the story is original, and not a rehash of tired, dead storylines that is all too common in today’s market. Not to mention, people’s basic fascination with the unknown will be dying to know what is behind that door! You’ll never figure it out and we want to keep it that way. Only myself and the director know at this point, even cast and crew are in the dark and that’s fun!”

Why Indie Go Go?

Gray had this conclusion: “So we could tell the story we want to tell without interference from The Suits. I don’t want somebody telling me I can’t do this or that or make me cut it to pieces because it’s not commercial. I also refuse to dumb anything down because horror fans are not dumb. It doesn’t matter if it’s Rob Zombie or Wes Anderson, people love the idiosyncratic. All they (The Suits) want to do is make movies, not good movies.”

The Border already has an amazing cast and talent pool dedicated to discovering what’s behind that door:

Starring martial arts master Richard Ryan (Dead Men, Honorless), Katrina Matusek (Xtraction, Cathedral Canyon), Eileen Dietz (The Excorcist, Helter Skelter), Noel Guglielmi (Training Day, The Dark Knight Rises), Melantha Blackthorne (Captured Hearts, Order of One: Kung Fu Killing Spree), Amanda Marie (The Town That Dreaded Sundown, Dracula’s War), Troy Johnson (Vertical), hip hop sensation Wyzae and many other icons from the horror and action genres. It will also be the genre debut of alternative model Sebrina Bedard.

Beware!

April’s Fools Day is sooner than you think!

DefTone Pictures Studios signs Brandon Williams to play lead role of Raphael in A Grim Becoming

DefTone Pictures Studios Inc continues to put Buffalo, New York on the map with their film productions. Directed by Adam R Steigert (Ombis 2013) and written by Janeen Avery, Christopher Brechtel, Mark Mendola and Adam R Steigert.

Brandon is an actor that can hold his own with his comedic abilities and he should take the character of Raphael to a new level.

The official theatrical teaser trailer is set to be released May 2013 and will feature a sneak-peek look at the character of “Death” who goes by the more human name of Magoo. A Grim Becoming stars Brandon Williams, Britt Griffith, Devanny Pinn, Bill Oberst Jr., Michael Sciabarrasi, Jessica Cameron, Melantha Blackthorne, Lynn Lowry, Patrick Mallette, Valerie Lynn Hanna, Melyssa JadeMike Sarcinelli, Christopher Brechtel and Aryn Fitzgerald.

Go Go Girls vs. The Nazis - Press Release

Ron Purtee, director of The Social Media Massacre has been taped to direct
the soon to be cult classic, Go Go Girls vs The Nazis, to be filmed this
June in Racine, Wisconsin.

Mr. Purtee, like Mr. Clingman, got his start doing cable access television
in Racine, Wisconsin, and soon was enjoying film production. On filming in
Racine: "I love that we are filming it in Racine, WI., which is my
hometown. It really is a great place with so much to offer to the film
community if folks would just open their eyes and take advantage of it."

Mr. Purtee, when asked about the film itself said, "I really wanted this
to be my first feature, because who doesn't want to see a movie that has
guns, girls and dead Nazis?"

Mr. Wayne Clingman, executive producer of Go Go Girls vs the Nazis, said,
"I can think of anyone I'd rather have help bring this film to life other
than Ron Purtee. His love of film and understanding of all the various
levels of entertainment this film has to offer is simply fantastic."

Wayne has also brought Ross Bigly (Petty Cash) on board as the
screenwriter for the project and Melantha Blackthorne (Sinners and Saints)
as associate producer. Blackthorne will also star in the film along side
Ted Alderman (Vampyre Tales), Elvis Thao (Gran Torino), Melanie Robel(Bikini Monsters), and several other great actors and actresses who you
can view on the cast page of the website.

Blackthorne is Wayne Clingman's dark muse for Go Go Girls vs. The Nazis
Long known for his mad crushes on Lindsay Lohan and Erica Rhodes, Wayne
has admitted that scream queen Melantha Blackthorne is his muse for this
upcoming Russ Meyer tribute film.

"In the past I just followed her career in indy horror, but now working
with Ms. Blackthorne on Go Go Girls vs. The Nazis has brought a new
understanding on how great and creative she is on both sides of the
camera. In fact, to me Melantha is the new face of exploitation film."
Yes, only time will tell if Lindsey will get over the end of Wayne's crush
but one thing is sure exploitation film will never be the same.
