Psychological Horror Eggs Launches Kickstarter Campaign

Los Angeles, California - Director Ryan Stockstad has partnered with producer Gui Pereira to make the short horror movie “Eggs.” Lynn Lowry and Duane Whitaker will star in this short, which was written by Stockstad and Jon Rosenberg. The filmmakers have launched a campaign on the crowd-funding site Kickstarter to raise $30,000 of the project's budget.

"’Eggs’ is a psychological horror movie about loneliness and madness taken to extreme consequences," said Ryan Stockstad, founder of Crowned Prince Productions. "It's about what can happen when otherwise good people ignore the suffering of others."

Screenwriter Jon Rosenberg adds: "what makes ‘Eggs’ truly frightening is that it could happen. And it actually does. It culminates in a bloody finale that is not too far removed from what you hear about almost every day on the evening news."

Casting on this short film has already begun. Actress Lynn Lowry will star. Lowry is a respected horror icon having appeared in over 25 horror movies, including David Cronenberg's first feature film Shivers(1975), the George A. Romero classic The Crazies (1973), the enduring cult classic I Drink Your Blood (1970). Lowry says of her upcoming appearance in “Eggs:” "I'm certain this short film will win plenty of awards. It's one of the most unique scripts I've ever read."

As well, prolific actor Duane Whitaker has also been cast. Whitaker is perhaps best known for his performance in Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction (1994) as Maynard, the menacing proprietor of the “Mason Dixon Pawn Shop.” He has also appeared in From Dusk Till Dawn 2 (1999), which he also co-wrote and also in The Devil’s Rejects (2005). Whitaker says of his appearance in Stockstad’s latest: "a project this good is rare. I can't wait to see it made!" And, “Eggs” will begin shooting later this year.

The filmmakers have chosen to raise funds on Kickstarter to better retain their creative freedom and reach a larger section of horror movie fans than might otherwise be available to them. In exchange for financial pledges, they're offering a number of valuable rewards, including DVDs, Blu-rays, t-shirts, posters, books, autographs, invitations to private events, producer credits, and more!

The official synopsis: “A lonely woman in a small town is hearing voices. With her family all either dead or gone, it isn't long before she begins to believe that her dead son is speaking to her. This motivates her to take action for the first time in years, but without the support of people who care for her, things go very, very badly.”

”Eggs” was recently chosen by the Kickstarter staff to be listed as a Kickstarter Staff Pick. The campaign will run now through November 7th, 2014. For more information, please visit:

New Artwork Released for The Divine Tragedies

Los Angeles, California – Brothers Jon and James Kondelik are moving closer to the final reveal of their serial killer thriller The Divine Tragedies. This film has already completed production, with several new and older horror veterans attached. Based on the famous Leopold and Loeb murder case, Dual Visions presents a new poster for the film here.
The Divine Tragedies is a film which takes its story from truth. Leopold and Loeb were two intellectuals, who thought they could get away with the perfect murder, in 1924’s Chicago. In Jose Prendes’ vision, the two killers are brothers. Set in the modern era, Charles Brubaker (Graham Denman) and Thomas Lo Bianco (Jon Kondelik) believe they are above the law and they kill without mercy. Their murders become more and more gruesome, until Detective Homer (Ken Foree) is able to intervene. But, Homer is only a few steps away from his own tragedy.

Early reviews have been favourable for the film. Josh Soriano of the horror website Icons of Fright noted the film’s many influences: “like the word of Palahniuk through the eyes of David Lynch…an uncompromising and original horror.” The Divine Tragedies is surreal in scope as imagined by director Prendes. As well, Matt (Boiselle) enjoyed the film’s darker tones: “ferocious. This tragedy is simply divine, one of the better films I’ve personally dropped eyeballs on in some time.” Both of these quotes are featured in the film’s latest artwork. You can feast your eyes on the bloody graphic here.

Director: Jose Prendes.
Producers: Jon and James Kondelik.
Cast: Lynn Lowry, Ken Foree, Sean Whalen, Graham Denman and Jon Kondelik.

Barbara Crampton Joins Cast of The Divine Tragedies

Writer and director Jose Prendes (The Haunting of Whaley House) and producers Jon and James Kondelik are excited to announce the casting of the eternally beautiful Barbara Crampton (Your’re Next, Re-animator). Crampton joins her From Beyond co-star Ken Foree, in their new film The Divine Tragedies.

Barbara says of the film: “I am very excited to take part in Jose Prendes’s complex and disturbing film, The Divine Tragedies; deeply exploring the nature of relationships and the influence they provide while carving out our places in the world,” she says. “I am excited to play the mother of two brothers whose torturous tendencies exact horrific carnage to people they claim to both admire and love. Being reunited with one of my favorite co-stars, horror luminary Ken Foree, is an added delight!”

The Divine Tragedies, based loosely on the famous Leopold and Loeb murder case, tells the tale of Charles Brubaker (Graham Denman, The Haunting of Whaley House) and his half-brother Thomas Lo Bianco (Jon Kondelik, Airplane Vs. Volcano), who were raised by their arthritis-twisted, alcoholic Mother (Barbara Crampton). The boys concoct a deadly game to test their superior intelligence against the dimwitted masses. This game will eventually lead to murder, and when Genevieve, a beautiful single mother, enters their lives they finally find the perfect girl for their first kill. But problems arise when they quickly discover that Detective Homer Gaul (Ken Foree), a cop with a very special gift, is hot on their trail.

“Barbara is an actress that I have admired for years and I am beyond thrilled to have her on this film,” says Jose. “She glows with life and is really going to surprise people with her performance in this one. Not only does she love the material and respect it, which is the best compliment an actor can give, but she has raised the bar for us dramatically.”

*filming begins at the end of February.

Producers: Jon and James Kondelik
Cast: Lynn Lowry, Ken Foree, Sean Whalen, Graham Denman and Jon Kondelik

Lynn Lowry and Sean Whalen Join Ken Foree in The Divine Tragedies

The famous Leopold and Loeb ransom and murder case is being brought to the screen with The Divine Tragedies. This twisted tale of stalking, kidnapping and violent murder has been re-envisioned by director and writer Jose Prendes (The Haunting of Whaley House). A true tale of wits, the production team, including brothers and producers James and Jon Kondelik, are pleased to announce the attachment of actors Lynn Lowry and Sean Whalen to their terrifying tale. Actor Ken Foree has already announced his participation in the film, with more famous horror personalities set to be included soon.

The Leopold and Loeb murder case has been sensationalized in film previously. Alfred Hitchcock used this famous trial in his famous thriller Rope (1948). And, Prendes has his own interpretation of the case. In the story of The Divine Tragedies, Charles (Graham Denman) and his half-brother Thomas (Jon Kondelik) concoct a deadly game to test their superior intelligence against the dimwitted masses. This game will eventually lead to murder. And when Genevieve, a beautiful single mother, enters their lives they finally find the perfect girl for their first kill. But, problems arise when they quickly discover that Detective Homer Gaul (Ken Foree) is hot on their trail.

Fans of horror will recognize both Sean Whalen and Lynn Lowry from previous horror roles. Sean Whalen has had appearances in such tales as Wes Craven’s The People Under the Stairs (1991) and more recently in Hatchet 3 (2013). Director Prendes says of Sean and his character: “I wrote this really bizarre and sleazy character, who just so happened to have some endearing qualities and I always had Sean in mind for it.” As well, actress Lynn Lowry has appeared in dozens of horror titles. Her most prominent roles include The Crazies (1973, 2010) and Cat People (1982). Lowry has had several recent appearances in the horror genre and she has collaborated with Prendes previously in The Haunting of Whaley House (2012). Prendes says of Lowry: “Lynn is simply wonderful. She is the kind of actor that draws us in and makes us care. She easily changes the dynamic of a scene. I am honoured to be working with one of my favourite actresses again.” The production crew behind The Divine Tragedies is proud to bring Sean Whalen and Lynn Lowry on board one of this year’s most thrilling murder tales – The Divine Tragedies!
*filming begins at the end of February, 2014.

Trailer Released for Horror Comedy, A Grim Becoming

Indie Horror icons Bill Oberst Jr, Devanny Pinn, Lynn Lowry, Melantha Blackthron, Jessica Cameron, and Valerie Lynn Hanna unite for Adam R Steigert’s A Grim Becoming which also stars Brandyn T Williams and features Britt Griffith [SyFy’s Ghost Hunters] Melyssa Jade, Michael Sciabarrasi, Patrick Mallette, Mike Sarcinelli, Christopher Brechtel, and Aryn Fitzgerald. The offical theatical trailer is here!

A Grim Becoming is a horror comedy that follows Raphael, a young and bitter executive, who is on the verge of losing a multimillion dollar architectural deal with a large distribution company lead by the awkward Stanford brothers. Raphael suffers a sudden death in his family and has to immediately leave to go to the funeral in his home town of Metzburgh. Seeing this as his big chance to get ahead is Wayne, a jealous co-worker, who is in competition with Raphael. As Raphael returns to Metzburgh, he experiences a life changing event: witnessing a Grim Reaper taking a soul. This sighting results in Raphael becoming a Reaper and having to explore his own conscience and the lengths he will go to get his own life back. But Death, or as he likes to call himself “Magoo”, has other plans for the naive young executive.

A Grim Becoming possibly may have one of the best actor line-ups in independent horror film of 2014. Director Adam R Steigert had this to say about the project “A Grim Becoming was a fun and hard project to work on. I don’t think there was an easy day during filming. One of my favorite things about this project is that we used a lot of puppetry in this film. So when you watch the finished project, a lot of the creature effects look so natural because we did them practically: no CGI involved. I even at times worked as a puppeteer during filming. When it came to working as many indie icons as we had on this film, I was even taken back at times saying: ‘How the hell did I get a chance to direct so many horror icons on one project?’ I am seriously looking forward to seeing what an audience thinks about the final product because a lot of these actors are taken out of the normal types of roles they play in films.”

DEFTONE PICTURES STUDIOS RELEASES THE THEATRICAL TRAILER FOR OMBIS - PRESS RELEASE

DefTone Pictures Studios is proud to announce the premiere of the first theatrical trailer for their hotly anticipated sci-fi horror film Ombis.

DefTone Pictures Studios Ombis is a 1950's styled science fiction movie set in modern times. It's the tale of an invasion of an alien virus which lands via meteorite in the small town of Metzburgh. Metzburgh is a former industrial town whose glory days are long past but whose residents are carrying on with their daily lives: loving each other and living life as best they can. In the midst of this idealistic backdrop, enter the hideous virus Ombis which is intent on taking over the planet Earth and changing its residents into a host for a new species.
The only thing that can stop Ombis is Nemesis, an alien from the same home planet as the virus who was sent here to contain the alien scourge. The Nemesis’ disregard for the human race puts him in a position to ensure that the Ombis virus will be eradicated since he doesn’t care about collateral damage and will use any means necessary to destroy his enemy. The real story of Ombis, however, is the human struggle of the residents of Metzburgh: to fight for their village and for their very survival.

With principal photography wrapping up, the movie is now in the beginning stages of editing which is being undertaken by Christopher Burns Jr. and Adam R Steigert. Michael Sciabarrasi, executive producer and actor (Mayor Logan) in the film, released this statement about the status of the production: "Ombis is a very effect-heavy film and I am proud that Adam [Steigert], our director, made sure not to use CGI for all the effects and kept many of the effects in the film practical. It makes our actors able to bring that much more to the table when they could interact with the effects, not just a green screen."

Ombis is based on a short story by Adam R Steigert and was written for screen by Janeen Avery, Mark Mendola, Terry Kimmel and Steigert. The cast features Richard Satterwhite (Sheriff Thomas Brackett), Sara Manzella (Lucy), Jason John Beebe (Mark), Alexander Sloan McBryde (Mr. Gray), Michael Sciabarrasi (Mayor Logan), and co-stars Lynn Lowry (News Anchor), Aryn Fitzgerald (Haley), Richard Winiatowski (Nemesis), Brenda Rickert (Sara) and Daniel George (Blake).

Now that the filming of Ombis is coming to an end, DefTone Pictures Studios has already lined up its’ next project: a short film written by and starring Ombis actor Jason John Beebe entitled To Release a Soul. The film also stars model Meylssa Jade in her first lead film role. Adam R Steigert has confirmed he will be directing the short which will be filming in September of this year. To Release a Soul is a character study of the interaction between a serial killer and his intended victim and what motivates each of them. The target release date is March 30th, 2013.
