Sharknado 3 to Wreak Havoc on Universal Orlando Resort

Now Florida will know what it feels like to be hit by a Sharknado! The eagerly anticipated Syfy and The Asylum production Sharknado 3 will shoot key scenes at Universal Orlando Resort, it was announced today.

Featuring stars Ian Ziering, Tara Reid and Cassie Scerbo, Sharknado 3 will premiere on Syfy in July, causing mass destruction in the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., before roaring down the Eastern Seaboard and into Florida. Ziering and Reid will reprise their roles as Fin and April, respectively, while Cassie Scerbo will play Nova, her character from the original 2013 Sharknado movie.

Anthony C. Ferrante will once again direct, based on an original screenplay by Thunder Levin.

Sharknado 3 is a production of The Asylum.

When it aired last July 30, Sharknado 2: The Second One became Syfy’s most-watched Original Movie ever with 3.9 million total viewers.

Sharknado 2: The Second One to Devour the Big Apple This July

NEW YORK – January 30, 2014 – They’re back – and shark happens! Syfy and The Asylum today announced that Ian Ziering and Tara Reid will reprise their roles as Fin and April in the eagerly awaited Sharknado sequel, Sharknado 2: The Second One, which begins filming in New York February 13.

Anthony Ferrante will once again direct a screenplay by Thunder Levin, who also wrote Sharknado, the iconic pop culture sensation which chainsawed its way through social media last summer.

In Sharknado 2: The Second One, a freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on the population and its most cherished, iconic sites – and only Fin and April can save the Big Apple.

Sharknado 2 is scheduled to premiere on Syfy in July.

Sharknado Devours Viewers in Third Airing

Powered by Igniter-driven social media buzz and unprecedented press coverage, the Shark Feeding Frenzy continued on Syfy Saturday night when the global sensation Sharknado feasted on new ratings records among total viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 – in its third airing.

Sharknado consumed 2.1 million total viewers, 863K Adults 25-54 and 791K Adults 18-49, while averaging a 1.4 household rating from 9-11PM (ET/PT), becoming the most watched Original Movie encore in Syfy history.

The movie’s audience has continued to climb from the July 11 premiere (1.4 million total viewers) and the initial encore on July 18 (1.9 million total viewers).

Sharknado ranked as the #1 movie of the day on cable among Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54. Fueled by Sharknado, Syfy was the #3 network in the 9-11PM (ET/PT) time period on television (broadcast and cable) among Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54.

Syfy’s all-day July 27 Sharkathon movie festival from 9AM-5AM, which included classics such as Sharktopus, Two-Headed Shark Attack and Swamp Shark, swallowed 1.1 million total viewers (up 50 percent), 391K Adults 25-54 (up 32 percent) and 352K Adults 18-49 (up 45 percent), versus the year-to-date time period average.

Sharknado will have its final airing of Summer 2013 on Thursday, August 22 at 7PM (ET/PT), leading into the premiere of the Original Movie Ghost Shark at 9PM (ET/PT). Ghost Shark is about a great white shark, tortured and killed by a fisherman, who returns as an unfriendly ghost to exact vengeance on the human race. The movie stars Mackenzie Rosman (7th Heaven) and Richard Moll (Night Court).

There will be a special midnight screening of Sharknado in more than 200 select theaters nationwide on Friday, August 2.

Sharknado Hits SyFy Juy 11th - Press Release

The Fields 2011 - REVIEW

Who doesn't love a good, creepy corn field movie? It's the stuff that nightmares are made of right? Oh, the things that can come out of a corn field... scarecrows hell bent on revenge (Dark Night of the Scarecrow), aliens intent on taking over earth (Signs) or winged creatures on a 23 day feeding frenzy (Jeepers Creepers II). I remember back in '84 when Children of the Corn came out, I don't know if it was because I was little or not but that movie scared the hell out of me. Just the thought that there could possibly be sadistic kids out there like Isaac (John Franklin) and Malachai (Courtney Gains) terrified me.

A young boy (Joshua Ormond) goes to live with his grandparents (Cloris Leachman and Bev Appleton) while his mother (Tara Reid) and father (Faust Checho) fight to save their failing marriage, and makes a horrifying discovery in the corn field behind their house during the Manson Family trials. Warned by his protective grandmother to stay away from the sprawling fields, young Steven nevertheless strays into the stalks and sees something he will never forget. Meanwhile, as the nightly newscasts offer all the lurid details of the Manson murders, something begins to stir in the corn field. By the time the family dogs disappear and the threat becomes real, it's already too late to run, and Steven must face his greatest fear head on.

I don't care what anyone else says, I thought there was solid acting throughout this film. Leachman was hilarious when she was suppose to be and serious when the script called for it. The relationship between her and Appleton as a married couple reminded me so much of my own grandparents it's was scary. At times it was like they hated each other, especially since they spent half the film screaming and cursing, but when it came right down to it, they really did love each other. Newcomer Ormond is a natural and I expect we'll see a lot from him in the future. Reid, donning a really bad wig, was her normal wooden self but as little as she was on screen, it didn't really affect the film at all. Checho I thought lacked a little with his performance as the abusive, domineering husband. I just didn't get that vibe from him which is great in the real world but not so good when the role calls for it.

Directing duo Tom Mattera and David Mazzoni do an awesome job building up the atmosphere of the film and succeed at creating a stylish, classy film. However, it wasn't without it's flaws. Let me explain... Having all the information needed to understand a film is a necessity and leaving things out can definitely hurt it. That said, adding elements that aren't relevant to the story can also hurt it. There's a happy median in there somewhere that this film just didn't hit. Some viewers will find the "too much information" bothersome but for me it wasn't so distracting that it took away from the film. Another issue I had with the film has more to do with the marketing than anything else. It's billed as a horror film when technically it's not. It's an uneasy, unsettling suspense thriller but it's not a horror. I would definitely recommend this film to fans of the genre. It's a great starter film so if you know someone who really isn't that into horror and you want to ease them in, this is the film to use.

The Fields Coming to Home Video in April

Academy Award winner Cloris Leachman’s (Fox’s “Raising Hope”) thriller The Fields is coming to Blu-Ray (SRP $29.99) and DVD (SRP $24.99) from Breaking Glass Pictures (5 Star Day, Cropsey, The Living Wake). Written by Harrison Smith (Six Degrees of Hell) and directed by Tom Mattera and David Mazzoni (cult favorite The 4th Dimension), the film also stars Tara Reid (American Reunion) and newcomer Joshua Ormond (Sundance hit Robot and Frank).
