City of Lust Available on DVD July 1st

On July 1st, Brain Damage Films will release the indie horror-thriller City of Lust (previously titled "Yellow"), an imaginative and intense film styled in homage to Giallo horror films from the 1970's but set in the present. DVD availability is set to include many retailers and websites including Amazon, as well as rental chains including Family Video. VOD availability will include all major and minor cable/satellite operators and internet platforms.

About the FilmCity of Lust is a modern day Giallo film produced by Soft Cage Films, a not-for-profit art organization based out of Chicago. World traveler and Writer/Director David A. Holcombe draws heavily from his serious involvement in both the Chicago film community as well as experimental theater.

The film uses many unconventional techniques and offers a claustrophobic atmosphere, sharp compositions, and radiant colors. City of Lust has been described by critics as being "smart, risk taking and edgy".

Synopsis
Arianna is a young woman who moves to the city to escape a traumatic family life in the suburbs. She works as a cosmetologist and is showing early signs of formaldehyde poisoning. New to the city and lonely, she reaches out to a female sex line operator. They agree to meet and soon begin a volatile relationship. An altercation at work results in Arianna losing her job. Then, people in her life begin to turn up dead. With Arianna's health, career, and new relationship all disintegrating before her eyes, how much longer can she, and those around her, survive?

"The Tour" Starring Jessica Cameron and Heather Dorff has Finished Filming - PRESS RELEASE

A new haunted house short film, called The Tour just finished filming. Alex Mathieson and Damon Rickard are directing from a script that they co-wrote together. Jessica Cameron (Mr. Hush, Camel Spiders) and Heather Dorff (What They Say, Dry Spell) star in the film along with Tom Gordon who is primarily known for stage productions in Europe including Julius Caesar and Dealer’s Choice. This movie marks the third collaboration of Cameron and Dorff, the first being Intrusive Behavior, and the second being Cameron’s award winning directorial debut, Truth or Dare.

The plot of The Tour is as follows: Two American tourists (Cameron & Dorff) visit the grounds of the haunted Darkmoor Manor but are unable to gain admittance. Later that day they are met by a handsome and charming local (Gordon) who tells them how he can get inside the infamous house. Upon entering the manor, they are met with untold horrors.

Filming took place in London, UK during the beginning of March of 2014 and they shot the short film at the infamous Wymering Manor which is considered to be one of the most haunted locations in all of England. The film was shot on the Arri Alexa camera.

When asked about the project, Cameron had this to say:

“Directors Damon and Alex brought such a wonderfully scary vision to life and assembled one hell of a crew! I have never been so genuinely creeped out on a film set! Horror fans will love this one!”

Dorff added:

“It was an honor to not only visit London for the first time, but work with the talented, amazing, and professional cast and crew of The Tour. I will cherish this experience forever.”

Rickard had this to say:

“Filming The Tour was an experience that will last a lifetime. The cast and crew we had couldn't have given us more and it was more like a family having a blast than a film set. I can't wait for people to see it!”

Expect the short film to be available for viewing later this year. Until then, please check out the teaser image below along with links to The Tour’s social media profiles for active updates!

Indie Horror Icon Bill Oberst Jr attached to "Slay Utterly" - PRESS RELEASE

CHICAGO, ILL. – Filmmaker Stuart Wahlin announced horror icon Bill Oberst Jr. is attached to Slay Utterly, both as an actor and a producer. The film, to be shot in 2014, is a modern adaptation inspired by the Villisca (Iowa) ax murders of 1912, which were also the subject of Wahlin’s 2013 documentary, The Ax Man Enigma, which built a compelling case pointing to a lone “Ax Man” being responsible for dozens of eerily-similar murders throughout the nation’s heartland during a two-year period.

Slay Utterly will be the writer-director’s second feature film. Wahlin’s first narrative feature, Hand of Glory (2012), earned the filmmaker “Best Director’ at the Prairie State Film Festival in Chicago last year, and “Best Actress” for Heather Dorff (Truth or Dare, What They Say).

Having earned over a hundred credits in a five-year period, Oberst is considered the hardest-working actor in horror, if not indie film as a whole. Among numerous awards and accolades, Oberst recently took home “Best Actor” from the Pollygrind Underground Film Festival in Las Vegas for his role in Coyote, which also won “Best Picture.”

“Bill is much more than just a horror actor,” Wahlin said of his film’s star. “He’s a tremendously-talented artist who’s going to win an Oscar someday. Though I think his fans will get what they expect from him, this a film that gives Bill a little more depth to flex his acting prowess in a very conflicted, sympathetic role.”

Here is the teaser trailer that was launched today:

Jessica comment regarding the trailer:

“We chose to do a teaser to show fans the tone and type of film that we are going to create with their help. This film is inspired from all the conversations I’ve had with fans about what they want and also from my love of the horror genre. One of my favorite things about this project is that it goes to so many of the dark places that people fear. We tried to capture that with our teaser.”

“I am extremely excited to be a part of “Truth or Dare.” I had the pleasure of working with Jessica on a film recently and saw that she is an amazing actress. I’m sure she is going to be an amazing director as well. This film is one of the most gruesome scripts I’ve ever read and I’m excited for the new challenges it will present to me as an actress!”

PRESS RELEASE - Matthew Cichella's Poetic

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Rockford, IL

Matthew Cichella’s Poetic is an intense, sexy, character driven psychological horror film that centers on a world full of deceit, passion, and revenge. One couple finds themselves caught in the middle of this when they are kidnapped by “Cowboy”, a mysterious and merciless enegade killer who takes karma in to his own hands. Now prisoners in their own home, the couple is turned against one another and forced to relive their dirty little secrets. Their domestic quarrel turns in to a nightmare they might never awaken from.

Poetic came to writer/director, Matthew Cichella, when discussing his frustration with mainstream films with producer Mitch Wright II, seeing nothing but watered down sequels and remakes in the theaters. The formulaic nature of Hollywood only urged Cichella to create something original, character and story heavy, unlike anything else out there. Matthew on Poetic:
“I wanted to make a film that was realistic in the sense that it could happen to me, or anyone for that matter. This world we live in is not black and white, it's all shades of gray and that's where Poetic shines because the characters in the film are based off real people, in real situations, and real emotions. I've felt what these characters feel. Most people have”

Matthew Cichella’s Poetic just recently began production, starting to film as of the first week of August. Writer/director, Matthew Cichella will be working with producer, Mitch Wright II again. The two have worked together on Cichella’s last three films, Famous, Innocent Looks, and One Night Stand. Cinematographer, Nate Stein, has also worked with Cichella on all three films. Travis Legge, director of Raymond Did It, is the Executive Producer and editor of the film. Matthew Cichella has not only brought a great crew together of trusted individuals, but a very talented cast including Sierra Holmes of VH1’s Scream Queens and Piranha 3DD. Sierra is also set to star in Scream Queen Bloodbath of the Scream Queen Campfire series, which Poetic co-star, Kelsey Zukowski, co-wrote with Jonathan Moody. Both Zukowski and Poetic star, Kaylee Williams, will be starring in this series as well.

The film also stars Ty Yaeger, Heather Dorff, Marc Edwards, Kaylee Williams, Talena Caza, Kelsey Zukowski, Gary Kozlowski, Dave Block, Melissa Revels, Rob Romero, and Marv Blauvelt among others. Yaeger and Cichella already have a strong working relationship as Yaeger has been in all of his films thus far and also starred in producer, Travis Legge’s Raymond Did It and holiday horror short, Holiday Carvings.
Legge was also a producer on What They Say, which Heather Dorff and Kelsey Zukowski created together. They both also starred in I’m Streaming Death from The Social Media Massacre web series, executive produced by Matthew Cichella. Blauvelt has worked with many people from the Poetic cast before including Kaylee Williams in III: Slices of Life and with Dorff and Zukowski in the gritty serial killer short,
Inhumane.

Kelsey Zukowski explains her draw to the film,
“Before I was even approached about being involved, I was attracted to Poetic. When done right home invasion films can be utterly terrifying. They destroy the conceived notion of your home being a safe place, free from harm. Upon reading the script I saw that Poetic was far more personal and really something outside of this sub-genre. With the world it portrays, everyone is flawed, deceptive, and it’s debatable if they are even worthy of forgiveness."

Matthew Cichella’s Poetic is Never Submit Entertainment's first feature film. It is set to wrap filming by early September and will continue on to the post production process expected to be completed by the end of the year. The film will be going the film festival route, beginning with a premiere on March 9, 2012. Location is ending, but will premiere in Chicago or Rockford, IL, where the bulk of the crew and cast are from and where the feature will be filmed.

More information can be found by LIKING the feature film on Facebook or checking out the official website.
