Are you ready for our first ever Slasher Studios feature film?!? Get ready for DON'T GO TO THE REUNION. DON'T GO TO THE REUNION is an homage to some of our favorite revenge slashers of the 1980s. Do you love “Slaughter High”, “Terror Train”, “Happy Birthday to Me”, and “Prom Night”? Good, because we do too and we plan to play homage to all of them. Our story centers around a misfit named Scott who is teased by the popular students in school. When the popular kids play a prank on him, he feels as though his life is ruined. Flash forward ten years and the gang is back for the class reunion. Little do they know that someone is waiting for
them. Is Scott back for revenge? Will they survive the night to find out?

After making three successful short films including TEDDY, POPULARITY KILLER, and BLOOD BROTHERS, Slasher Studios is ready to brand out into their very first slasher feature. This is our cinematic love letter to anything and everything that we love in 80's slashers. Ready for a return to likable characters, practical effects (NO CGI to be found here), and an all around fun attitude? Excellent, because so are we!

We are looking to raise $10,000 to make our 90 page script which will pay for lodging for our actors, location rental, practical effects, equipment rental, and transportation and food. We will start filming late April-early May to have the film released in theaters and on dvd in
October 2013. YOU will be the first ones to see our love letter to the horror genre. We can't do this without you and we owe our previous films to YOU. Get ready for some carnage candy.

Mothers Day 2010 - REVIEW

Yet another Hollywood remake.  I've said before I am not big on remakes, and the last 2 movies I've reviewed are remakes.  Mother's Day, like Silent Night, is really only a title only remake.  While I never saw the original and have no basis for a comparison.  I have talked to several people who have said the story and the movie itself is nothing like the original.  If you are looking for a really creepy and just plain intense movie to watch.  I highly suggest you pick this up!

The Sohapi's are having a birthday get together at their new house in Witchita, KS where a tornado warning has just been issued.  While they are all down in the finished basement partying, a family of 3 brothers have entered their house too get help for  their youngest who is wounded.  Daniel Sohapi (Frank Grillo) goes upstairs to see what is going on only to realize his house is being overtaken by bank robbers.  The oldest brother Ike (Patrick John Flueger) finally gets ahold of their Mother (Rebecca De Mornay) and she is on her way to try and help her boys.  All of the party guests in the basement are now being held hostage till this family gets the money they need to go to Canada.  Their lives all lay in the hands of a sadistic, evil Mother who will do anything to protect her family!

This movie was made in 2010 but did not get a release in the US until May 8th of 2012.  I was very impressed with the acting in Mother's Day.  Rebecca DeMornay leads the cast with a nothing less than stellar performance.  Her portrial of the Mother was so creepy and intimidating that I myself will never look at her the same again.  Another notable performance is put in by Jamie King who was in the Silent Night remake as well.

The most impressive thing about Mothers day are the special effects.  The movie is packed with blood, guts and gore and some pretty impressive death scenes that will make all horror fans druel over.  I do have to worn that it is pretty graphic and hard to stomach at times.  I thought all the death scenes were awesome but it gets mighty brutal at times.  The story itself was so well put together.  There is a main plot and there are actually a couple of subplots that uncover throughout the movie.  The only complaint I really have is the movie took way too long.  Yeah, it was 2 hours but lets face it movie goers, or maybe its just me, don't want to sit for a whole 2 hours anymore.  An hour and a half is plenty of time.  There was just so much to fit in here that 2 hours was needed.  A couple of things could have been cut out but it's still worth the watch.

I have always been a big DeMornay fan.  Let's face it she has always been a very attractive woman.  She is a bit older than her haydey but she can still pull it off.  She finds a way to suck the audience in to guess what she is going to do next.  Any fan of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle will have a great time watching this as she built on her creepy persona a little more.  Stay twisted everyone!

Sheri Moon Zombie and Sailor Moon? - PRESS RELEASE

What do you get when you combine
Sheri Moon Zombie and Sailor Moon?
you get the song and site...
SAILOR MOON ZOMBIE
Scroll down and listen to the new song by Quentin Jones and The Clownettes

Fans of cult horror actress Sheri Moon Zombie and of the hit Japanese animated series Sailor Moon will enjoy this crazy mash-up into the song Sailor Moon Zombie: http://sailormoonzombie.com/

Robert "Corpsy" Rhine, Publisher/Deaditor-In-Chief of Girls and Corpses Magazine, explains, "I wrote the live action pilot for Sailor Moon (for Bandai Entertainment) so I'm familiar with the hit Japanese animated cartoon. I have also worked with Sheri Moon Zombie who graced the first cover of Girls and Corpses Magazine and I am a great admirer of her brilliant performances in 'House of 1,000 Corpses,' 'The Devil's Rejects' and 'Rob Zombie's Halloween 1 & 2'. So, I thought why not blend those 2 ideas together? I hired Girls and Corpses artist Nenad Gucunja to do our artwork. I then brought in Quentin Jones of the Reach Around Rodeo Clowns (who does the music for our Girls and Corpses videos) to compose a song with his all female band The Clownettes. I wanted the song to have a cartoony vibe like the Sailor Moon TV series but with a dark, sick and twisted edge. After several recordings, Quentin and I finally created a killer song!" Listen here at: http://sailormoonzombie.com/(Scroll down on the site to the song).

Quentin Jones, Producer/songwriter at Lanark Records (founder of the psychobilly band The Reach Around Rodeo Clowns) describes his vision, "It’s always a blast working with Robert "Corpsy" Rhine and I love the challenge of writing and producing music for movies, television and Girls and Corpses Magazine! Sailor Moon Zombie combines the energy of a Saturday morning cartoon theme song combined with the vibe of The Ramones, The Shangri-Las and the Runaways. Several people have even commented that it sounds like Sheri Moon Zombie on the soundtrack."

AMCtv.com Interviews IronE Singleton

Actor IronE Singleton (T-Dog on AMC's The Walking Dead) describes the mysterious call that portended his character's fate and mulls the possibility of T-Dog resurrecting as a zombie rapper.

Q: T-Dog's walker kill count this year seemed a lot higher than in previous seasons. Was that a welcome shift?

A: The first episode, I got enough kills to last for the next four seasons. People were always asking, "T-Dog, how many walkers are you going to take out?" Before, when I didn't have any, I would tell people "I have about 500 kills -- off-screen." Like all those times the camera moves, he was taking out walkers. But this season I got enough to make up for the first two!

Q: As one of the Atlanta natives on the show, did you doing anything to help welcome the cast back to your city?

A: I had a screening with people here at the house. We had 150 people here, so you know I was excited. My wife did a terrific job of putting things together -- she handles all of that stuff. My job was just to post when they got here and do my Walking Dead song.

Q: Walking Dead song?

A: Have you heard it? It's my version of what a zombie would talk about if a zombie could talk. I'm rapping. And the beat is so hot!

Q: How did you learn that this season would be T-Dog's last?

A: I found out early on. Glen [Mazzara] and I were playing phone tag. I was talking to my wife, thinking Glen is calling me but he's not telling me what it's about -- that's not a good sign. Normally when you call someone, you explain what you want to talk about. But he just kept saying, "IronE, I want to talk to you." Once we had the conversation -- it was probably around Episode 1 -- I was kind of bracing myself for it. It wasn't a crushing blow; I was like, "I understand." And I started to prepare myself.

Q: How did you prepare?

A: This was my season to reflect -- my emotional season. I was thinking of all the good times we had and just relishing the moment and taking it all in, because I knew that it would come to an end shortly.

Q: Did you have to come up with an elaborate excuse to tell anybody why you were home early from the set?

A: I'd normally say, "Well, production lasts until November, maybe December, so things are looking really good. So far so good!" My family knew all about it. I couldn't keep that away from them. But other than that it's top secret. I don't know what else I'd tell my wife; if I'm here more often than I was in the past, she would have been like, "Ok why are you home?" What am I going to say?

Q: What was it like to go to work in a prison?

A: It was air-conditioned, which I don't think we've had since the CDC at the last episode of Season 1. It was blazing hot at the farm last year, so yeah, that was very refreshing. It was hazy because they had just put together the prison and there were a lot of chemicals in the air. Harmless, we were told. But I ended up wearing my mask a lot. But it was still nasty and filthy; it seemed like a real prison. We were all closed in and it just felt really real.

Q: Do you have anything at home to immortalize T-Dog and your time on the show?

A: I got T-Dog's shield, and every cast and crew member signed it. Seemed like I had 300 signatures on it. That again told me what everybody thought of me, and that they appreciated me as much as I appreciated them. And of course, I also have my Walking Dead song.

Q: Maybe T-Dog could be reborn as a zombie rapper --

A: Crazier things could happen! Shane has been back on the show, so T-dog could too. I would love to come back as the rapper zombie one day.

Andrew Shafer's Bad Romance Indiegogo Campaign - PRESS RELEASE

Andrew Shafer is a film writer, director, and cinematographer in the St. Louis Community. Originally based out of Leavenworth, Kansas he went onto film school at Webster University. There he made several short films and documentaries--including Born In Blood, Pass the Dutch, and Of Little Convenience. The latter film was selected into the Webster Film Festival and is being considered into several other festivals. Shafer has worked on several professional projects with some of the most well respected cinematographers from St. Louis, including Chris Benson and Ryan Samul. Recently Shafer took part in the filming of Brian Jun’s film She Loves Me Not, starring Cary Elwes and Lisa Edelstein--due for release in 2013.

Shafer’s new project is an independent film called Bad Romance. The movie is about a high school student who is pressured to go to a motel during his prom night and must deal with his girlfriend’s insanity and his own dark homicidal feelings. Bad Romance fuses romance, drama and horror into a seamless blend that will keep the audience geared for more. It explores the relationship between two complex and damaged individuals while also creating suspense and twists along the way.

“Bad Romance is a movie that’s a year in the making and is the culmination of all my interests as a filmmaker,” says Andrew Shafer.

“Ever since I was a teenager I’ve been a huge fan of slasher and horror films. In many of these movies, like Friday the 13th or A Nightmare on Elm Street, the killers are likable to an audience, but never relatable. I was compelled to write a story about a misunderstood killer an audience can find a connection and relate to,” says Andrew Shafer.

“I did a lot of research on mental disorder and used that as a way to bring humanity into these broken characters. The main character Tim has anxiety and obsessive compulsive tendencies. These characteristics inhabit his personality and make him something original as a serial killer,” says Andrew Shafer.

Currently Shafer is trying to raise funds to get this film produced and off the ground. Using the online crowdfunding website Indiegogo, he is trying to raise $5,500. The money will go towards equipment and lighting rentals, costumes, make-up, locations fees, and lots of blood! Every dollar counts to getting this film made. Go to http://www.indiegogo.com/BadRomance for more information and to see the striking promo video. This project is also the prologue to a feature film and will be used to jumpstart its creation.

“Bad Romance is a crazy, electric and surprisingly touching screenplay, a hybrid offspring of Dexter mated with the movie First Love. Couple that with Mr. Shafer's wildly off-kilter point of view and his insanely gifted ability to direct, Bad Romance promises to be a wild ride with love, romance...and a lot of blood.--Bart Baker, screenwriter (Live Wire and Children of the Bride) and novelist (Honeymoon With Harry).

The Innkeepers 2011 - REVIEW

Anybody who knows me, knows that I'm not a big fan of Ti West. I've seen most of his films and I can honestly say that I have yet to watch one that has pulled me in and held my attention all the way through. I'm always willing to go in open minded and I'd probably be the same way with West's films had I not been berated by one his friends for not liking The House of the Devil. I'm all for people expressing their feelings and shit but when it borders on a personal attack, that kinda ruins it for me.

The Yankee Pedlar Inn is a hotel in Torrington, CT, that's been welcoming guests for over a hundred years. However, not many have been stopping by lately, and the owners have chosen to shut it down. In the Yankee Pedlar's last weeks of operation, the staff have been reduced to just two people, Claire (Sara Paxton) and Luke (Pat Healy). Neither one is especially interested in hotel management, but they're both students of the supernatural. They've come to the Yankee Pedlar because it has a reputation for being haunted and they want to see for themselves if ghosts walk the halls before it's too late. The two spend their time searching the empty rooms for evidence of paranormal activity, which Luke will post on his website (if he ever finishes it), but they don't find much until an eccentric woman (Kelly McGillis) who shares their fascination with ghosts checks in. Together, they begin to discover the truth about the Yankee Pedlar's strange legacy.

I didn't much care for Paxton's character in this one. It's nothing against her personally, I think she did an okay job, but there was just something about it that irked me the entire time. Maybe it was that she didn't come off as your typical "ghost hunter" or maybe it was the immaturity of the character, I dunno. I can't quite put my finger on it but I found her (Claire) quite annoying. Healy I could relate to a little more... an eternal pessimist or realist with a fascination of the paranormal. His character was just as immature as Paxton's but he didn't whine as much. As far as the acting abilities of these two people, nothing jumped out at me as overly good or bad.

West is notorious for the slow burn horror, if you can even call it horror. To me, it's not because it isn't scary and before anyone starts yelling that "you just don't get it", I do get it. I can enjoy an intense, wait for it, film just as much as an in your face, scary as hell kind of film but for me West's creations never have the kind of pay off that make me respect the film as a whole. It's like having ho-hum sex for an hour and a half and never climaxing. You wanna stick around for the ultimate ending because you know once you get it, it'll be explosive but it never happens. There are those that like this kind of film but I just can't get into a film that is so painfully slow and delivers nothing at the end. I'll most likely watch more of his stuff, I want to like his work, I want to say I finally watched something from Ti West that I enjoyed but so far it's just been like "ho-hum sex" for me.

True Horror

I was in the middle of finishing up a review when news from Connecticut slapped this nation in the face. That review seems insignificant now as we listen to the updates that continue to pour in. At this time, there are reportedly 26 people dead, among them 18 students and 8 staff members of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Connecticut.

Are you curious yet as to why I've taken the time to write this? Well I'll tell you... all the horror films in the world could never compare to what one human is capable of doing to another. Take a look out your front door, that's where true horror happens. It's all around us every day. Yes, we go on about our lives and do the things we must but it's out there lurking, somewhere. We see it on the news, we hear it on the radio, hell sometimes we even experience it ourselves. But the truth is, no writer or director could ever create a monster as evil and cruel as what reality holds for some of us.

As a nation, we've become desensitized to the violence. No one ever thinks something like this could happen to them when in reality, it only takes one sick individual to change a lot of lives forever. I can't imagine the anguish these families must be going through. Nothing will ever heal these people and no words will ever make it better but our thoughts and sympathies go out to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.

UPDATE: 12/14/2012 2:53 PM Reports are coming in now that among the dead are 20 students and 6 staff members. Please continue to keep these families in your thoughts.

Injustice Abounds - The Remy Couture Trial

This has got to be one of the most blatant displays of discrimination against the horror industry I have ever seen. "Corrupting morals"?? How in the hell do you "corrupt" someone's morals? You either have them or you don't. This angers me to NO end and honestly makes me worry about the future of this industry. There are so many criminals running around out there robbing, raping and murdering and you want to waste your time trying someone for being good at what they do. It's unfathomable to me.

Check out the full article by National Post and please feel free to leave your thoughts below.

MONTREAL — Under different circumstances, it would have been the highest praise for a cinema makeup artist.

The photos of mutilated bodies Rémy Couture posted online were so realistic an Austrian pathologist who examined them concluded they might depict an actual murder.

But in this case, a complaint about the disturbing images was passed to Canadian police. In October 2009, police ensnared Mr. Couture outside his Montreal home and arrested him for producing, possessing and distributing obscene material.

Initially, police thought they might have something more serious on their hands, a Quebec Superior Court jury heard Tuesday.

Sergeant Detective Eric Lavallée of the Montreal police testified when he received the case in January 2009, he was not sure whether the photos depicted the actual torture and murder of the women photographed.

One of his investigators concluded the images were staged and the gore was evidence of Mr. Couture’s special-effects talents, but even then, police were not prepared to take any chances.

After obtaining a warrant to search Mr. Couture’s home, Mr. Lavallée used a ruse to nab the man, who went by the business name Rémy FX.

Posing as a potential client seeking a mock gory photo session with his wife, he arranged a meeting two days before Halloween. At the scheduled time, he called Mr. Couture to say he was having trouble finding the address, and when the man walked to the corner to help him, he was arrested.

Sgt.-Det. Lavallée told the court he decided against simply ringing the suspect’s doorbell because the nature of the videos left him concerned for the safety of arresting police officers.

After Mr. Couture was in a police cruiser and they finally entered his apartment, police took note of the large crucifix hanging in his bedroom, the scarred face and severed finger in his makeup workshop and an image on his computer showing a woman tied to a bed with a crucifix in her mouth.

Sergeant Detective Christina Vlachos of the Montreal police testified the case against Mr. Couture began with complaints in 2006 in Austria and Germany. Federal police in Austria sought a pathologist’s opinion of the photos, and he concluded they showed a “possible manslaughter,” the jury heard.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police was advised through Interpol. After it was established Mr. Couture lived in the Montreal suburb of Laval, the case was passed to municipal police there in February 2007.

Laval police did nothing with the complaint, the court heard. Nearly two years later, it landed with the Montreal police morality squad after Mr. Couture, 35, moved to the city.

The Crown began showing some of the hundreds of photos copied from Mr. Couture’s website, InnerDepravity.com, which has since been taken down.

Classified on the site under such headings as “Hook,” “Burn,” “Sacrifice,” “Suicide” and “Necrophile,” the photos show half-naked women being tortured, mutilated and sexually assaulted.

In one series, a masked male killer slices off a woman’s nipple. In another, a woman victim has a knife inserted in her genitals. Some of the photos depict the attacker having sex with a corpse.

The trial adjourned for the day before all the photos were shown. Jurors will also see two short films — Inner Depravity 1 and Inner Depravity 2 — that were found on the site.

As the trial opened, Crown prosecutor Michel Pennou told the seven-woman, five-man jury the material Mr. Couture posted on his website, crossed a line because of the combination of violence and sexual acts.

He described it as an attack on “fundamental Canadian values” and said expert witnesses will testify about the possibility such images prompt people to imitate the crimes depicted.

More than just a pretty picture, the very latest edition in Albino Jacks’ twisted pinup series follows Goldilocks (played by Ethel Fletcher) as she meanders her way through the forest and stumbles across the Bears' lair. Inevitably, events unfold and let’s just say that she had a lasting impression on Daddy Bear. This piece has been produced as a 36 page piece of vintage-pinup inspired pulp fiction. The screen simply does not do it justice, so in honor of all things vintage, we are only publishing this piece in its entirety in print.

If Goldilocks gone wrong isn't enough. Badass Red Riding Hood (played by Masubi), is hell bent on getting her own back on the big, bad wolf. Beautifully presented as a 32 page, full color magazine. Follow Red Riding Hood on her way home from grandmas. Hold the story in your hands, witness the horrors unfold. Will Red Riding Hood get her own back, or will she succumb to the jaws of the wolf?

It’s not all doom and gloom right? Or maybe it is. Another lethal dose for the mind occurs in ‘the exorcism of Ruby Jewel’. A good girl gone bad, Ruby was once a quiet girl. But now something sinister lurks in the shadows.

Every story is beautifully presented with high quality images, in magazine format. Each one will be unlike anything you've read before. Your favorite fairy tales transformed in true Albino Jacks fashion. Be prepared to witness striking photography with twisted narrative to create a whole new concept of popular fairy tales and new pinup pulp fiction.

First Official Stills From Bill Oberst Jr.'s Ditch

Fresh from post-production come the first screen captures from DITCH, a feature length horror film starring Katy Foley as a girl with a past and Bill Oberst Jr. as a man with an axe.

DITCH's lead cast include Bill Oberst Jr., Katy Foley and Zach Silverman with a special appearance by horror cult icon Lynn Lowry (CAT PEOPLE, THEY CAME FROM WITHIN, THE CRAZIES.) Oberst says the film will be "something different in horror; a brutal film with plenty of sizzle and blood but also with a surprising amount of heart and real characters you'll care about. I am proud of what we did and honored to have been a part of it." The actor says a highlight for him was working for the first time with Lynn Lowry, with whom he says his character has "a bit of a sensual post-mortem moment" with.

DITCH is directed by Joe Hendrick, who is also considering helming Oberst's 2013 demon project LORD BATEMAN, with a screenplay by horror author Daniel P. Coughlin (FARM HOUSE, LAKE DEAD) & Ryan Coughlin. Producer is Megan Waters, with gore effects by Josh Russell (DANCE OF THE DEAD, YELLOW BRICK ROAD.) The film is in post-producution aiming for a 2013 release date.

DITCH Synopsis
"Jenny Bilson, a high school senior, is the perfect student, a wonderful daughter to a veteran police detective and an all American Dream. But the one mistake she made, which she doesn't even know that she made is about to haunt her in a very violent way. Throwing a high school 'ditch party' will end up being one HELL of a mistake as the her past returns to exact revenge on Jenny and anyone else who might get in the way."

6 Degrees of Hell 2012 - REVIEW

There are a lot of things in horror films that I can pick out as an irritating factor. But none are more severe than getting hyped about a main character only to see him/her for maybe 10 out 90+ minutes. That's like ordering pepperoni on your pizza and getting canadian bacon instead... it's just not the same.

Six people and their lives are stitched together by a supernatural force that has laid claim to one of them. A Halloween haunted establishment is ground zero for a paranormal perfect storm inadvertently touched off by a seemingly random series of events.

The acting in this film is not bad. What's bad is when a character who spends very little time on screen outshines everyone else. That character would be Deputy Hendricks played by Brian Anthony Wilson. He is way under utilized in this film as most of his time is spent sitting across the table from Corey Feldman recounting the story of these six unfortunate people. Very much a waste of his talents in this reviewer's opinion. I would however like to mention Joe Raffa who took on the ambitious tasks of acting and directing. If he intentionally made his character an arrogant prick then he did a spot on job because he was definitely not my favorite of the bunch. The rest of the main cast, Nicole Cinaglia, Kyle Patrick Brennan, David J. Bonner and Brian Gallagher worked well with what they were given.

My biggest problem with this film lies in the first 60 minutes or so. The viewer is bombarded with one incomplete story line after another. There is so much going on in that first hour that I had to start the film over again just to get a clear vision of what direction it was taking. We're introduced to one under developed character after another and the transitions between them is so flawed that it's really a struggle to keep up with who's who and what story line goes where. At one point I even got two of the characters confused because everything was so muddled that I couldn't keep up. The story is being told by Wilson's character so in essence the entire film is a flashback. Then you have flashbacks in the flashback that give you peeks into each individual character. It's just soooooo much! Information and set up is key to getting good characters but in this case they just tried to do too much in too short of a time without ever really getting a good foothold.

All that said, the last 30 minutes are a rip roaring good time with a high body count and decent effects. But for me it was too late by then. I've said it before and I'll say it again, without a solid, well built story, everything else just falls apart. Would I watch this again? The answer is an emphatic no. Would I recommend this to anyone else? Well, it's all a matter of taste I guess. I literally just had a conversation with someone today who doesn't think a good story is necessary for a film as long as everything else... execution, score, style, etc is good... so it's possible this person would enjoy it. I'm not saying it's all bad, if you can make it through the first hour and not look back you may find it's an enjoyable film.

Silent Night Remake 2012 - REVIEW

When I first heard that my favorite holiday slasher was being remade I was none too happy.  I'm not a huge fan of remakes in the first place.  As it got closer to the release of the Silent Night remake I saw previews and read reviews and put it together that it really was not a direct remake of the original.  In fact it's basically just a title remake.  So with that being said I thought I would give it a shot and see how well they were able to put this together.

Starting off quite different than the original.  No childhood experiences for our santa killer, they get right into the killing.  The first 2 victims of Santa have been claimed.  A man and a woman who were having an affair.  The man thinks its her husband and he is going to kill him for revenge.  Right before Santa pulls the switch he realizes this is just a madman who is going to kill him for no reason.  Our main character of the movie Aubrey (Jaime King) is awoken by a call from her boss, the Sheriff (Malcolm McDowell), that she has to come into work on Christmas Eve.  The day she has specifically asked to be off to spend with her family.  He does not take no for an answer and she is on duty.  Meanwhile there is a killer Santa still on the loose claiming victims around town leaving little clues to his identity.  The hardest part of catching a killer Santa in this town is on Christmas Eve every year there is a Santa parade were more than 50 Santa's will be dressed up and parading around town.

I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised with this film.  Silent Night sets itself apart from the original all together with a totally different story line.  So this could be considered more of a re-imagining rather than just a direct remake.  I thought the cast is what really sets this movie apart from the original.  A few big names in this one Jaime King, Malcolm McDowell and even Lisa Marie has a small role in the movie.  Malcolm McDowell adds the comic relief with some great one liner's.  Jaime King plays the lead role and she did a great job but something about her character I really did not like.  Her demeanor was too weak for most of the movie, too weak to be a Deputy.  The best parts about the movie are the deaths.  The are all bloody, gruesome and very sadistic.  There is something about the Santa that is just creepy.  The mask that he is wearing adds alot too it, and who doesn't love a killer Santa with a flamethrower.

Steven C Miller deserves a huge round of applause for his work on this movie.  I really thought it was fantastic and exceeded all my expectations 100%.  While I cannot say I like it more than the original, because it's a classic and nothing in my mind can top that.  This remake comes awfully close though.  It has been a while since I watched a new slasher movie with a killer that was so sinister and evil as the Santa was in this one.  I did read a couple reviews on this movie that said the backstory to the killer Santa was not needed.  I disagree totally!  I am someone that needs to know the killer's motives and likes it somehow to make sense to me.  The backstory to the killer in this one is not real elaborate and is really only flashbacks 2 or 3 times throughout the movie, but it was enough.  Did not drag it out too much and got right to the point.  This is definitely a must watch for the holiday season.  Stay twisted everyone!

The Muse 2012 - REVIEW

I love it when a movie mixes my two favorite things, horror movies and rock n roll.  If I could make movies and play music for the rest of my life I would be a happy man.  That is bit of a pipe dream though.  Although, making a one hit wonder to me would be worse than not being a musician at all.  Yeah you would be remembered, maybe, but it's either all or nothing.

Addison Taylor (Isaac Simons) is in his own personal hell.  Trying to get inspiration to make a followup hit to his breakout song "Fuck you like a Porn star".  So far all Addison has been able to accomplish is bang groupie's and get drunk.  Addison's manager (Paul Blummenfeld) suggests he go up to the vacation home he just bought and spend some time up there by himself.  Addison follows his advice and does just that hoping something will give him inspiration enough to write another hit song.  Little does Addison know he would get more inspiration than he anticipated.  A muse helps him with what he was looking for but drives him to insanity in the process.

The Muse has a well written story, but  takes way too long for anything significant to happen.  For the first half of the movie I was not sure if I was really watching a horror movie or a drama.  I really would not consider this horror though more of a Thriller.  I was most impressed with acting of the lead role by Isaac Simons.  He played the part like a seasoned pro and definitely adds something to the movie.  I was really not a fan of the music he was playing was kind of Wussy rock n roll like Coldplay.  The sound and production of the movie in a whole was put together very well.  It's also worth noting that the producer was also lead actor Isaac Simon.

My final consensus on this film is that I rather enjoyed it.  There were parts I thought where it kind of dragged, but it wasn't bad enough that I lost total interest in it.  It has alot to do with the fact that half of the movie really only involves one person.  One person does not add much excitement or dialogue to keep the audience intrigued.  The movie does get better though and picks up the pace very nicely.  If you are a real gore fan this one will probably disappoint because there is not much blood or guts at all.  That's really not a bad thing, but I could have used a little more violence to satisfy my horror needs. I do suggest this film to anyone looking for a good thrill.  Especially if you are a fan of music like Coldplay, the music throughout the movie will really appeal to you.  Stay twisted everyone!
