Last but by no means least comes Arrow Video's landmark release of The Driller Killer as a both Limited Edition SteelBook and standard Dual Format release. Forget Taxi Driver, The Warriors and The New York Ripper, The Driller Killer is the definitive look at NYC's underbelly - a slasher that is as much at home in the arthouse as it is the grindhouse.

These features will sit amongst a host of rarities and never-before-seen footage from the movies including the legendary 'Surgeon' scene from Hellbound: Hellraiser 2, the subject of fierce debate amongst fans for many years, now finally unearthed for its home video debut.

This limited edition Blu-ray comes with an exclusive illustrated 200-page hardback book featuring new writing from Clive Barker archivists Phil and Sarah Stokes and a 20-page booklet featuring never-before-seen original Hellraiser concept art. The limited edition packaging is adorned with incredible new artwork from Gilles Vranckx alongside a set of 5 exclusive art cards and a fold-out reversible poster.

Synopsis
Stephen King was once quoted as saying: "I have seen the future of horror... his name is Clive Barker." That future became reality when, in 1987, Barker unleashed his directorial debut Hellraiser - launching a hit franchise and creating an instant horror icon in the formidable figure of Pinhead.

Barker's original Hellraiser, based on his novella The Hellbound Heart, follows Kirsty Cotton (Ashley Laurence) as she comes head-to-head with the Cenobites - demonic beings from another realm who are intent on reclaiming the soul of her deviant Uncle Frank.

Picking up immediately after the events of the original Hellraiser, Hellbound: Hellraiser II finds Kirsty detained at a psychiatric institute and under the care of Phillip Channard, a doctor who abuses his position to realise his own dark aims. In Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, a reporter investigating a mysterious death at a nightclub finds herself in the way of Pinhead and the Cenobites, who plan to bring their horrifying world into our own.

Coming at a time when the genre was degenerating into self-parody, Hellraiser offered a fiercely unique vision that approached its horrors with a far greater degree of seriousness than many of its contemporaries. Along with its sequels, the Barker-produced Hellbound and Hell on Earth, Arrow Video is proud to present some of the most terrifyingly original films in the history of horror in brand new 2K transfers.

CREEPSHOW 2 [Limited Edition Blu-Ray and Standand Edition Blu-ray ] (12/13)

WHEN THE CURTAIN GOES UP THE TERROR BEGINS

Horror titans George A. Romero and Stephen King deliver yet another fiendish selection of blood-curdling tales in Creepshow 2 - now newly remastered in 2K!

In "Old Chief Wood'nhead", a group of young hoodlums face retribution from an unlikely source after looting a local hardware store. Meanwhile, "The Raft" sees a group of horny teens wishing they'd read the warning signs first before taking a dip in a remote lake. Finally, an uptight businesswoman finds herself with some unwanted company following a hit-and-run incident in "The Hitch-hiker".

Whilst retaining the EC comic book flavour that made the original such a hit, Creepshow 2, this time directed by long-time Romero collaborator Michael Gornick, is a decidedly darker and grimmer affair than its predecessor and remains one of the greatest horror anthologies of all time.

Trailer Released for Teenage Caligula and The Theta Girl

Musician and Dangerous Minds-writer CHRIS BICKEL and DAVID AXE, founder and editor of War Is Boring, are first-time filmmakers who have shot the perfect throwback exploitation trailer as part of a funding campaign for their upcoming feature film, THE THETA GIRL.

The five minute trailer for the film TEENAGE CALIGULA is a throwback to Jack Hill-style gritty exploitation flicks with classic '70s style voiceover narration. The trailer, produced for $150 and filmed over two weeks served as an exercise to gear the cast and crew up for their feature production, THE THETA GIRL, which will be shot in December.

The trailer

THE THETA GIRL is a feature-length psychedelic thriller that pays homage to 1960s art films, 1970s revenge flicks and '80s slasher films. Shot entirely in Columbia, South Carolina with regional talent, THE THETA GIRL is a bloody, sexy, atmospheric labor of love.

THE THETA GIRL concerns a take-no-shit young woman, Gayce, who deals a hallucinogenic drug called "theta," facilitating an audience for her friends' all-girl rock band. When Gayce's friends are brutally murdered, she must solve the mystery behind the murders and protect herself from the killer. She discovers the connections between theta and the murders ... and learns a terrifying truth. That the world -- indeed her whole reality -- is not as it seems.

THE THETA GIRL is a psychedelic horror film in which all the "good guys" are women and (most of) the bad guys are men. It's an existential sex/drugs/rock'n'roll movie with buckets of blood, lots of writhing bodies and a completely insane soundtrack. It'll pass the Bechdel Test.

Chris and David have ponied up $10,000 of their own money to make THE THETA GIRL. But they need at least another $7,000 to pay the cast and crew. Today, the filmmakers are launching a 40-day Go Fund Me campaign. Rewards include copies of the film, featured extra roles and even producer credits. Funders not only get sweet swag and, for some, a chance to be in a movie -- in giving, they also become filmmakers themselves.

David wrote the script for THE THETA GIRL. Chris is directing and editing and pulling together an eclectic soundtrack of coldwave, femme punk, experimental noise, and swampgospel. The pair have indicated that a feature-length version of TEENAGE CALIGULA is their likely follow-up to THE THETA GIRL.

Principal photography begins in December for a release date in mid-2017. THE THETA GIRL is going to be great. Just how great ... is up to the film's funders.

All Through The House 2015 - REVIEW

Aren't Christmas slasher movies the best?  There are quite a few of them out there but not all of them are good movies.  I wanted to wait a few more weeks to watch this one a little closer to Christmas but I thought what the hell I am dying to see this one.  Besides, killer Santa Clauses are creepy any time of the year.

Rachel(Ashley Mary Nunes) returns to town after some time for the holiday season to visit her Grandma and see some old friends.  Little does she know there is a killer on the loose dressed as Santa, chopping his way through the neighborhood.  No one is safe from the wrath of Santa and a pair of garden sheers.

This film does not waste any time at all and gets right down to business.  The cast is mostly no one you are going to know except of course for scream queen Jessica Cameron.  . All in all for the cast the acting was pretty decent.  Honestly it was better than I had expected.  I always enjoy an Indie movie that is a pleasant surprise and not a total letdown.  The best part of watching Indie horror is you know you aren't going to be subjected to shitty CGI.  Instead all effects are natural the way they should be.  The gore factor and the death scenes are excellent.

What kept me drawn into this one was the story.  Plenty of twists and turns and keeps you thinking what we are going to find out next.  You probably can't tell that from my description of the movie but I really didn't want to give too much away and ruin it for you guys.  Some of my favorite slasher films are the Christmas slashers.  This definitely goes on the list of must watch during the holiday season.  I am giving All Through the House 7.5 out of 10 stars.  This one is worthy of being on your Christmas list.  Stay twisted everyone!

Ravenous 1999 - REVIEW by Jay Pendlebury

Sometimes I watch a movie and wonder how it never received more acclaim at it's time of release. As genre fans we tend to find more gems well after the release dates. We discover these movies through word of mouth or websites like this. The horror community is always eager to share their discoveries amongst each other. We take pride in creating cult classics well after their run on the big screen is over, no matter how brief that time may have been. Obviously because of technology and social media, this has become a much easier achievement. Keep searching my fellow horror junkies, many films slipped through the cracks and remain undiscovered or underappreciated. One of these underappreciated films is Ravenous.

Ravenous is the story of a disgraced war hero, Captain Boyd. Boyd (Guy Pearce) is sent to join some other military misfits at a remote post, along a pilgrimage trail. They save the life of a man wandering in the cold wilderness (Robert Carlyle) and he regales them with his tale of how he got there and what he had to do to get there. This is the point when I knew I had found something special, Carlyle's monologue is chilling and expertly delivered. It sets the tone for the rest of the movie which fails to disappoint. I hesitate to give away much more but needless to say, cannibalism and man's inner battles are the main themes of the film

I think the main reason Ravenous was and possibly still is underappreciated is it could be mistaken for a mainstream film with a quick glance at the film's poster or cover. The cast of Guy Pearce and Robert Carlyle was perhaps misleading to genre fans. Throw in David Arquette and the often recognized face but rarely recognized name of Jeffrey Jones and it may become a tough sell for some horror fans. Remember this is before 28 Weeks Later and after The Full Monty. Carlyle was maybe pigeonholed in our minds as comedic and not horror worthy. I guarantee this was also misleading for fans of mainstream film at the time. I would believe this title was rented from Blockbuster and returned only partially watched by more than a few people in the early 2000's.

With some truly mesmerizing scenes that increase the heart rate, an equally fantastic score and some great performances, Ravenous is beautifully done. Splash in some dark humour and amazing outdoor shots and it garners repeated watches. I have friends who aren't big horror fans who loved this film and are still terrified by it. I also have some very seasoned horror friends who aren't shy to place this in their top five horror favorites. Go give it a watch, tell me what you think and remember.....you are who you eat.

(Hollywood, CA) – October 26th, 2016 – With over 160 festival selections including SXSW, and 40 award wins, Night of the Slasher, written and directed by Shant Hamassian, has just been released as Vimeo’s first horror Staff Pick Premiere and it’s OSCAR® qualified.

WATCH FILM HERE: https://vimeo.com/127454533

Night of the Slasher is a 'shot-in-one-take' film about a teenage girl who must commit horror movie sins by drinking alcohol, doing drugs, and having sex in order to lure a masked killer and exact revenge.

The film is a proof-of-concept for a full-length feature. Hamassian’s goal is to rethink slasher films from a low-brow art to a high profile cinematic piece.

“Night of the Slasher transcends genres, from horror to slasher to teen drama. The timing is perfect for the project now as more and more doors have opened for my work and these types of bold stories. We’re presently in discussions with serious industry players in regards to the feature becoming a reality,” explains Hamassian.

Dozens of horror publications including Fangoria, Substream Magazine, and Dread Central, among many others, wrote news articles that went viral, circulating in over 3 million facebook feeds. The film has been one of the highest rated horror shorts as reference movie site Horror Freak News placed it as #1 Horror Short of 2015.

Things escalated further for the project when it was accepted to SXSW and was quickly on many movie sites must-lists.

The original 80s style rock song in the film, “Dying For Love”, written by Jeff Phillips, Matt Cheadle, and performed by Grayce will be available soon at this link:

31 Days of Horror Day 26 RWD 2015 - REVIEW

Anyone who has followed along with TC for any amount of time, knows that I am not a fan of found footage films. It's an oversaturated subgenre littered with subpar films that will always be (either by filmmakers themselves or media) held in comparison to The Blair Witch Project but rarely exceed it's greatness. Don't get me wrong, there are some FF films that I enjoy, [Rec]Grave Encounters and The Hunted, are good examples. However, those are rare finds in the almost infinite flow of these types of films.

Chris (Adam Hartley) and Ricky (Matt Stuertz) are two wannabe filmmakers who host a web series called "Ghost Goofs". The series has them hunting ghosts but not to talk to them or help them cross over, it's to prank them (yes you read that right). The two head off into the woods to investigate the legend of a family man turned cannibal while stranded in the middle of nowhere. Turns out Chris scheduled the wrong dates for their interview subjects so they instead go wandering around the woods in search of a different story. What they find instead is themselves.

Sounds like the plot to a John Hughes coming of age film, no? Well, it's far, far from it. Now, I'm not advocating hand holding by a filmmaker. I'm not asking them to divulge every teeny bit of info so the audience can follow along; BUT the audience does need to know what's going on. They need to be able to connect with some aspect of the film in order to enjoy it. By introducing RWD with a line like "Blair Witch move over", directors Hartley and Stuertz set major hurdles for themselves. If you're going to place your film in the league of what is arguably one of the best FF films of the entire subgenre, you better deliver. Unfortunately RWD doesn't.

When you have a cast of two that have to carry an entire film, those characters need to be built in a way where they're, at the very least, likable. At first, Chris and Ricky just come off as two goofballs doing what they love but twenty or so minutes into the film, they turn into giant self centered douche bags and you really just want them to die. There is this epic event going on around them and the best the writers can come up with is to have them prank themselves. It literally makes no sense and in turn causes the whole story to fall apart. I do applaud them for coming up with an original idea however there just wasn't enough substance there to sustain it for it's 77 minute run time. In my opinion, 57 minutes or so of this film could've been left on the cutting room floor and RWD would've made a pretty stellar short film.

31 Days of Horror Day 25 House of Purgatory 2016 - REVIEW

We've all heard the stories about those haunted houses where you get your money back if you make it through the entire thing. The one that I've heard the most about is called The 13th Floor and while there IS a haunted house in San Antonio with that name, you do not get your money back if you complete the tour. I myself have never been to one and I don't know anybody else who has either. I have a hard time believing that there is one anywhere that is so scary, they make the majority of their money off of people who can't make it through. But alas, this is how legends are formed.

It's a story that has existed throughout the Midwest for years - a haunted attraction that repays a portion of the admittance fee for every floor patrons are brave enough to complete. The haunted house is supposedly so terrifying, however, that nobody has ever made it all the way through to the end. On Halloween night, four Wisconsin teenagers go looking for this supposed urban legend. What they find is the House of Purgatory - the source of all the stories. Once inside the house, the teens quickly realize the house is more than a mere haunted attraction. The house somehow knows the things each of the kids keep hidden, and forces each of them to come face to face with the secrets they keep.

One thing the film has going for it is an outstanding cast. Anne LeightonLaura CooverBrad FryAaron Galvin and an unrecognizable Brian Krause do a great job of bringing their characters to life. Unfortunately, first time director Tyler Christensen made the decision to portray the characters as high school students which this particular cast can't pull off. No, I not bashing their ages so before someone starts with the blah, blah, blah, I'm simply pointing out that they are not believable as high school students. Aside from that, the film has a solid cast. Also, the first half hour of the movie focuses on building the characters of three of girls but when it comes time to head to the haunted house, two of the girls stay behind and three new characters come in. Personally I think that first thirty minutes would've been better spent focusing on the characters that would actually be the focal point of the film.

The film has an interesting premise, It doesn't go the usual haunted house slasher movie route but more like a thriller that takes a glimpse into a hell of your own making. I mean that's kind of what purgatory is, right? Once the film finds it's footing, it holds up rather well. The sets inside the haunted house are very well done and the coloring gives it the perfect haunted house vibe. Without going into too much detail (no spoilers), I will say that I took a bit of an issue with some of the "hell of your own making" storylines. However, House of Purgatory, while not incredibly original, is a good watch and manages to tell a well rounded story in it's short 75 minute run time.
