More Casting News for Syfy's Dominion

NEW YORK – September 24, 2013 – Syfy announces additional casting for its upcoming supernatural drama pilot, Dominion with the signings of Anthony Stewart Head, Roxanne McKee, Luke Allen-Gale and guest star Shivani Ghai. Produced by Universal Cable Productions, the pilot is set to begin shooting this month in Cape Town, South Africa.

Based on characters from the hit theatrical film Legion (2010), Dominion is an epic supernatural action drama set 25 years after the events of the movie and picking up in the aftermath of a catastrophic war between an army of angels and mankind that has transformed the world. The series follows the perilous journey of a rebellious young soldier who discovers he’s the unlikely savior of humanity, set against a backdrop of the ultimate celestial battle as it touches down on earth.

Scott Stewart, who co-wrote and directed Legion, is back to direct the pilot, and is one of the project’s Executive Producers. Michel Litvak and David Lancaster of Bold Films, who produced the film Legion, are also Executive Producers. Vaun Wilmott wrote the pilot and is Co-Executive Producer.

Anthony Stewart Head plays “David Weel,” the power hungry president of the Senate of Vega (formerly Las Vegas) who is frequently at odds with General Rysen, the city’s military leader. David is willing to do whatever he believes is right to protect the city and his position leading it.

Anthony Stewart Head’s lengthy television career has encompassed iconic starring roles in worldwide hit series including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Merlin, Little Britain, Manchild and Free Agents. Head has also guest starred on numerous series including Highlander, Doctor Who, NYPD Blue, Spooks and, most recently on Syfy’s Warehouse 13. His feature film roles include The Iron Lady, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, Repo! The Genetic Opera and Imagine Me & You. Head’s various West End stage credits include Six Degrees of Separation for the Old Vic and the London revival of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He is represented by Donna French of Gordon & French.
Roxanne McKee plays “Claire Rysen,” the closest thing that Vega has to a princess. As the daughter of General Rysen – the man who led humans to victory against the angels during the Extermination War – she is a member of the highest class in Vega’s stratified society. Claire is also strong-willed and much tougher than she seems.

Roxanne McKee was born in Canada but brought up in England. She completed a BA degree in Politics at the University of London before being cast from an open casting for the popular British series Hollyoaks in which she played Louise Summers. Her career since has included roles in the series Lip Service for the BBC and the feature films Ironclad: Battle for Blood and Fox's Wrong Turn 5. She is perhaps best known for playing Doreah in Game of Thrones for HBO based on the best-selling novels by George RR Martin. Roxanne will also appear in the upcoming feature, Hercules 3D. She is represented by Curtis Brown, Insight Entertainment and ICM.

Luke Allen-Gale plays “William Weel,” the scion of Vega’s other powerful ruling family. Unlike his cunning politician father David, William is a man of the people and Head of the Church of the Savior.

Trained at The Drama Centre London, Luke Allen-Gale made his acting debut in 2008 on Wallander. Best known for his UK starring roles as Dr. Springer in Monroe and the Channel 4 miniseries The Promise, Allen-Gale recently had a recurring role in The Borgias in the US. He has guest starred on popular TV series including Ripper Street, Endeavour, Death in Paradise and Midsomer Murders. Allen-Gale was also onstage in London’s West End production of The American Plan and can be seen in the feature films Captain America and Undead Union. He is represented by Markham, Froggatt and Irwin UK.
Shivani Ghai plays “Arika,” a lead diplomat sent from Helena, a mysterious and militant matriarchal society in what was once Salt Lake City, which maintains a tenuous peace with Vega.

Shivani Ghai established herself in Gurinda Chadha’s romantic musical Bride & Prejudice. She appeared on American television in HBO’s Five Days and House of Saddam, and hit mini-series The Bible for History. On film she’s also appeared in the features Cleanskin opposite Sean Bean and Everywhere and Nowhere directed by Menhaj Huda. She will star as a regular in the up and coming Ambassadors, the new Mitchell & Webb series for BBC, and had guest appearances and recurring roles on the British television series Sinchronicity, Identity and EastEnders as well as Italian television’s Un Medico in famiglia. Ghai is represented in London by agent Gavin Denton-Jones of Creative Artists Management and in Los Angeles by agent Steven Jang of SDB Partners and manager Tim Taylor of Luber Roklin.

Fear (1996) - REVIEW

Now I know this movie isn't what you would consider a true horror movie but it is a bit of a thriller, so that's close enough.  I watched this recently and had forgot how really awesome this movie was and the great performances of the main cast.  Chalk full of young stars that really had not made it big yet including a rapper who turned out to be a much better actor than musician.  This movie came out when I was still in high school, YIKES!!

Nicole Walker (Reese Witherspoon) leads a pretty normal teenage life.  Lives with her father (William Peterson) her step mom (Amy Brenneman) and her step brother.  She does not get along really well with her Father and he plans a family night out to the James Taylor concert.  Only he has to cancel because of work and Nicole is off to a warehouse party with her friend Marcy (Alyssa Milano) were she meets the seemingly sweet David McCall (Mark Wahlberg).  David and Nicole begin to date but as a little time passes she sees that something is not right with him and his fits of rage.  David gets very possessive to the point of almost complete insanity.  David was not the man Nicole thought he was an now no one is safe not even Nicole's family!

I have to say that this was exactly as I remembered it.  This movie still holds up.  It was funny to see how young everyone was in the cast and how good all their performances still were so early on in their career.  Mark Wahlberg had not had many big leading roles such as this before this point except for the Basketball Diaries were he was a main character but not a lead.  He played the part of a lunatic to perfection.  Going from the sweet man who loved his car to the psycho path who would kill anyone in his way of him and his girl.  Reese also did a standout job in this as well.  If this was a slasher movie she would have been a scream queen.

Fear has always been a favorite movie of mine I just need to watch it more often I guess.  I remember back when it was released, to a teenager it was the coolest movie out at the time.  Like I said before it still holds up.  I would rate this 7 out of 10 stars for the performances alone not to mention the great writing.  Stay twisted everyone!

Daniel MacMunn's "Out of Place" Coming Halloween 2013

If you love "The Twilight Zone" then you will become an instant fan of "Out of Place!" The release will happen online, Halloween 2013, showing all day and night, on Face Book, Vimeo, You Tube and IMDB.

Director/Writer Daniel MacMunn explains where his passion comes from- If you love "The Twilight Zone" then you will be an instant fan of "Out of Place." I have always been a huge fan of Rod Serling's hit classic, creepy series from the early 1960's. Many people have tried to duplicate this series but have fallen short in my eyes. "Out of Place" is the first episode of a series I created called "A Seat on a Train." I don't want to copy Rod Serling's genius, but pay homage to it. I have written other episodes that are ready to be filmed. I believe my ideas and skilled writing will bring back that great old style of story telling, while peeking the interests of the modern day viewer. I have written many stories that pertain to our modern times. "Out of Place" is the first brave attempt of this series. It was shot very low budget, in one location with two characters. It has that creepy style of filming with original music enhancing the story. I hope "Out of Place" will be the kick start into a long run of "A Seat on a Train."

Out of Place synopsis- Spencer is fixated on keeping everything in it's exact, specific place. His obsession is so extreme it has cut him off from the outside world and is now threatening his five year relationship with his girlfriend, Samantha. After Samantha walks out on a romantic dinner he has prepared, he soon becomes a victim of his own obsessive behavior when random objects around his condo mysteriously shift out of place when he's not looking.
A Seat on a Train description- A single seat on an old train has a very peculiar talent. For when a passenger sits, he is warped into another reality where he is confronted with his major flaws, concluding with a twisted lesson at the end.

Festival run- "Out of Place" was an official selection of The Green Bay Film Festival. "Out of Place" is also scheduled to show in October at The Hot Springs Horror Film Festival. It won best short at The Best Shorts Competition and "An Award of Excellence" at The Accolade Film Competition. Now we are ready for the public release. What we are trying to do here, is to get as many people to view "Out of Place" on Halloween and after. Our goal is 100k views. We know this is a lot but feel this concept is very marketable. In conclusion we hope to gain enough of an audience so we can show the networks how popular our show is and hopefully get picked up in the near future.

In the collaborative spirit of film making, we have launched our own crowd funding campaign to help finance our next episode "The Perfect Woman." To obtain funding we will be selling DVDs and posters offered after viewing on Halloween. We also will be offering incentives to anyone who helps us get the word out, including a DVD package, exposure on our face book page, IMDB credit and advertising on all of our other sites. We are also open to any suggestions you may have.

In the near future, we hope to collaborate with undiscovered, talented writers, actors and directors just like Serling did. We want to honor Rod Serling by continuing his great vision, creepy themes and unique story telling. Most of all, we want to help launch careers of these artists while entertaining and creeping out a large fan base with original stories that pertain to our modern times.

The Arksville Homicides - PRESS RELEASE

1541 - Famed Spanish Explorer Francisco Vasquez de Coronado is heading through what is now modern day Kansas on a mission. A box containing unknown contents that has been kept sealed under lock and key by the Vatican has been delivered to him to take far from civilization and bury as deep in the Earth as possible, never to be found again.

1967 - Arksville lies within the forests of Pennsylvania. It is a large town on the verge of being a city. Since the closure of the local coal mine in 1931, and sighting themselves as a ‘get away from it all’ hamlet, tucked into rural Pennsylvania alongside the Susquehanna River the town has thrived on tourism. Frank Wepps and his family escape from a horrible dark event in Frank’s police work in Pittsburgh, hoping to start afresh in Arksville, Frank has a new position at the Arksville Police Department. Frank’s superior – Lieutenant Eidalman, a cynical and jaded cop, once idealistic but now just sick of the bureaucracy, control and corruption of the town council. Chief Gardner of the Police Department is deep in the council’s pocket and in an effort to keep the image of the town pleasant, his department only reports a fraction of the actual crimes. They even occasionally collude with the local crime family which uses Arksville as a conduit for arms-smuggling. Mayor Adinberry’s only concern is money, and the grand image of the town. But something is wrong from the start of Frank’s arrival – the feeling someone is stalking his family. Sure enough a figure that has a strange unearthly feel is seen following his daughter – Patricia, and his wife – Lucy. Soon bodies begin turning up around the town, locals being dispatched brutally and horrifically, mutilated beyond imagination. What follows in a private manhunt for someone or something lurking in the alleyways and town fringes of Arksville. Primary suspects being a cult led by a recluse named Harold Dyer, Frank and Eidalman are unable to obtain any proof, and with influence coming into the town from the local crime family, the police’s hands are busy enough. Working against the town council, the local crime family and the satanic cult, Frank and Eidalman will have a front-row seat at a showdown between good and evil.

Infinite Santa 8000 Official Artwork and VOD Release Date

Infinite Santa 8000 will available on Video on Demand December 1st, 2013. Official carriers to be announced.

About the Film:
Infinite Santa 8000 is the feature length story based on the popular web series of the same name. The original Web Series is 13 episodes long on YouTube which features the same lead characters (Santa, Dr Shackleton, and Martha) but tells a separate story from the film. With a view count of over 720,000 views, the series has garnered a cult following of fans demanding more content. Filmmakers Michael Neel and Greg Ansin, the team behind Midnight Releasing’s Drive-In Horrorshow and the Web Series, decided to give the fans what they want. They took the characters and the universe and have created a full length film with a simple concept: A cyborg Santa Claus killing mutants and robo-people in a vast post apocalyptic wasteland in the year 8000. With a heavy metal soundtrack, the film features epic battle scenes, violent killing, and a 100-Foot Evil Easter Bunny.

Synopsis:
A thousand years ago the world completely collapsed. Not much remains, except for the mutants, scum, and robo-people. Everyone must kill to survive.

Even Santa.

It is the year 8000. War, famine, and disease have ravaged the earth, transforming it into an inhospitable, desolate wasteland. Infinite Santa – half human and half machine – survives any way he can in this bleak world. Despite his tough existence, Infinite Santa still dreams of keeping the Christmas spirit alive by spreading goodwill and cheer to the nice people of the world. But as the years have passed it has become harder for Infinite Santa. Instead of good people, all he finds are evildoers and hideous, no-good robo-mutations.

His one ray of hope is Martha, a robot girl full of the Christmas spirit. He rescued her from a deadly situation, and now she is like a daughter to him. They have a hard life but a good one, living on Santa’s ranch with his robo-reindeer. But Santa’s luck is about to run out. Santa’s arch-enemy, the evil mad scientist Dr. Shackleton, has found Santa again. Shackleton hates Santa and his stupid holiday, and will stop at nothing to uncover Infinite Santa’s mysterious secrets…and then destroy Infinite Santa once and for all. Dr. Shackleton is no fool. He knows how powerful Infinite Santa is, and has built an army to destroy him and Martha. Batsharks, Crabmonkeys, Dragonfly Snakes, Octo-Blobs, and Skin-Bots - and if they can’t kill Infinite Santa, a 100-foot Evil Easter Bunny should do the trick.

This fight will test Infinite Santa to his limits. He’ll need machine guns, flamethrowers, machetes, knives, jet packs, ornament grenades, and everything else in his arsenal just to survive.

Saturday Morning Mystery 2012 - REVIEW

One of the things I loved as a kid was getting up on Saturday mornings and racing my sister to see who could get to the TV first. It didn't really matter who won, we'd always end up in a fight that led to me slamming her head with a cabinet door and her threatening to kill me with a can of Spaghetti O's. I shit you not, that really happened. But I digress... what I was trying to get to was that Scooby Doo was always one of my favorites. It's kinda like a subtle introduction to horror for kids, at least that's what I think anyway. So, when I heard about this one, I was immediately intrigued.
In Saturday Morning Mystery (previously Saturday Morning Massacre), a team of amateur paranormal investigators struggle to make ends meet by debunking reports of supernatural incidents. With the group on the verge of bankruptcy, Nancy (Ashley Spillers) takes on a case involving rumors of suspicious disappearances and violent deaths linked with the abandoned Kyser schoolhouse. Discounting stories of satanic practices, the team proceeds, desperately chasing cash and the opportunity to encounter their lives' mission - to catch a real ghost. On a tour guided by the local sheriff (Paul Gordon), the team learns of the schoolhouse's gruesome past. Despite the sheriff's advice to spend the night in a hotel, they decide to stay, set up their gear and prepare for nightfall. When the sun goes down, the truth comes out: the Kyser house might actually be haunted by sadistic spirits - or something even worse.

As with the original Scooby Doo, we're given a cast of four main characters, Nancy, Floyd (Jonny Mars), Chad (Adam Tate) and Gwen (Josephine Decker) and let's not forget their trusty dog, Hamlet. All of whom bear some resemblance to the original "Gang", be it through their voices, actions and so on. We're introduced to them via opening dialogue by Nancy, which immediately settles me a bit as she delivers her lines with great promise AND a hint of "Velma". I'm always leery about how the acting will be in indie films mainly because when you're working on a micro budget, your options are sometimes limited but in this case, I was very pleased. Every one of the actors pulled it off like seasoned pros. No, they're not all newbies but still, they are more than responsible for holding this film together in more ways than one. There are so many things that can really damage a films credibility and bad acting is one of them. No worries, you won't find any of that here.

It also doesn't hurt that director Spencer Parsons knows his shit. Yes, he's relatively new to the scene but the simple way he played with shadows and corners in this film tells me he's gonna have quite the career as a film maker. He has an obvious passion for the genre and film making in general. Saturday Morning Mystery is shot very well and given the circumstances, (a relatively dark house), that's saying a lot. There's a lot to putting together a good film. You have to have a crew that you trust and a cast you believe in and this whole "Gang" fit together rather perfectly. The dialogue and interaction between the characters seemed genuine and believable and I liked that while it's loosely based on the cartoon, it didn't reference it so much that it became redundant and boring. Watch for the hallway chase scene... it's EPIC! In the end, it breaks down to this, Saturday Morning Mystery is what Scooby Doo never was... REAL. If you're not a fan of Scooby Doo, then you're EVIL (just kidding but not really), you probably won't dig this one but for the rest of you I would definitely recommend it!

Indican Pictures Releases the DVD Artwork for Jim Klock's Thriller Murder Eleven

Murder Eleven is a tale of a serial killer working in the streets of Atlantic City. This crime thriller and horror film had its World Premiere at the Down Beach Film Festival. Here, the film won three awards at this film festival (“Best Actress,” “Best Writer” and “Best Use of Atlantic City”). As well, the film centrally stars Jim Klock (Bitch Slap), Autumn Federici (The Blackout), Julienne Irons, Michael Mack and Richard Reid. Now, the film is set to release on DVD, through distribution house Indican Pictures. The final DVD artwork has recently been released and horror fans can view the grisly graphic here.

In the film’s story, Detectives Jesse (Reid) and Mayfield (Mack) are tasked with solving a brutal series of murders. A mysterious serial killer has stalked and captured ten women, from the streets of Atlantic City; each one has turned up dead. The killer’s next target is Katey (Federici), a desperately vulnerable prostitute and drug user. Katey was in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Now, Katey is in the hands of the killer and the detectives only have a few hours to find her, before her time runs out.

Murder Eleven was shot over twelve days in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The cast and crew mostly utilized night shoots, with much of the film shot during the witching hour. Director Klock, who also stars in the film, says of the shoot and the film: “my goal was to make a film that was uncomfortably realistic and to keep the viewer interested in these characters.” These characters must make decisions, which may save a life or end it. Actress Federici, who plays Katey, found her role challenging: “Katey was a dark and twisted role to play. I was bound, gagged, and tortured for the entire shoot." The character Katey is also bound in the DVD artwork for the film (attached). Murder Eleven will release on DVD October 22nd, 2013 and fans can preview the release details here.

Release Date: October 22nd, 2013 (DVD).

The official synopsis: “A serial killer roams the streets of Atlantic City killing prostitutes with ruthless efficiency. His motives are unknown, but the killers’ most recent clue lets the two homicide detectives know that they are in a race against time before he murders #11. New Stills Released for Circus of the Dead Starring Bill Oberst Jr.

Actor Bill Oberst Jr. (Children of Sorrow) has recently wrapped a lead role as a necrophiliac clown in Circus of the Dead. Several early stills from the film have been released of Oberst Jr. and others, courtesy of director Billy Pon. The film’s story involves a deadly circus and a group of sadistic clowns; these clowns want to play some games, with those they have captured. Circus of the Dead also stars Parrish Randall (Gut Instincts), Brad Potts (Puppet Master X: Axis Rising), Chanel Ryan, Ryan Clapp, Rusty Edwards and Mike Williams. This title is currently in post-production and horror fans can preview several bloody stills, here.
Actor Oberst Jr. has something to say about his character Papa Corn. Oberst Jr. describes Corn as "a homicidal serial rapist with a taste for necrophilia. His day job happens to be as a circus clown. He and his highly-disturbed fellow clowns use the circus as cover for some of the darkest and most graphic acts of violence I have ever seen in a script or on set." Circus of the Dead is full out gory horror! Oberst Jr. also promises brutality, from Corn: "the effects team, led by Marcus Koch and Matthew Ash, has been churning out corpses and body parts non-stop for the entire 5-week shoot.” This film will satisfy even the most experienced gorehounds.

Circus of the Dead will also shock fans, in just a few months. Oberst Jr. gives fans a behind-the-scenes account of the shoot “we've sawed off heads, hands and tongues; we have stripped the skin off a living man's face, drooled clown slime on multiple females in varying states of undress and I have chased a stark naked woman through a parking garage, with a real cattle prod!” Circus of the Dead charts new horror territory in 2014!

Syfy Acquires New Original Werewolf Drama Series Bitten From Entertainment One

NEW YORK – September 17, 2013 – A new breed of werewolves is coming to Syfy with the acquisition of the first season of the new Canadian scripted series Bitten from leading independent studio Entertainment One (eOne).

Season 1 of Bitten, consisting of 13 one-hour episodes, will premiere on Syfy in 2014.

Based on the New York Times best-selling Women of the Otherworld novels by Kelley Armstrong, Bitten is an emotionally charged supernatural thriller starring Laura Vandervoort (Smallville, Ted) as Elena Michaels, the lone female werewolf in existence.
Desperate to escape both a world she never wanted to be part of and the man who turned her into a werewolf, Elena (Vandervoort) has abandoned her Pack and taken refuge in a new city. There, she works as a photographer and hides her werewolf existence from her new boyfriend. When bodies start turning up in her Pack’s backyard, Elena finds herself back at Stonehaven, the werewolves’ ancestral domain. Torn between two worlds and two loves, she quickly realizes that – when push comes to shove – she’ll stop at nothing to defend her Pack.

It’s a sexy, action-packed drama with a love triangle at the center – all very appealing to the global audience!”

Bitten also stars Greg Bryk (A History Of Violence, Rookie Blue) as werewolf Pack “Alpha” Jeremy Danvers, Greyston Holt (Alcatraz, Durham County) as Elena’s werewolf ex-boyfriend Clayton Danvers, and Paul Greene (The Client List, Wicked Wicked Games) as Elena’s current beau, Philip McAdams.

Maxim Media International Acquires Slaughter Daughter

Maxim Media International, a worldwide distributor of independent horror films has acquired Slaughter Daughter for worldwide distribution. Plans are underway to release the film on DVD and Video On Demand with the North America imprint Brain Damage Films. Official artwork and release dates are coming soon!

About The Film:
Slaughter Daughter is the brainchild of Director Travis Campbell and Writer/Producer Lauren Miller. Campbell and Miller also partnered up on their previous feature, Mr. Bricks: A Heavy Metal Murder Musical. After Mr. Bricks was completed, they begin brainstorming a new idea about a matricidal young woman named Farrah. They immediately thought of Nicola Fiore, one of the stars of Mr. Bricks, to play the lead. Italian Giallo films of the 1970s, soap operas, and true crime novels all became the inspirations behind Slaughter Daughter.

In January of 2011, the team began to build an online presence for the film and shot the first of what would become a weekly web series lasting 8 episodes. The series focused in on Farrah’s stint in a mental hospital and aired on YouTube. From there, the team pulled up their socks and climbed the uphill battle of making independent film. Fueled by inspiration and determination, they completed the project and gave birth to something truly inspired.

“Slaughter Daughter” is an inspirational film to me.” says director Travis Campbell. “I know this sounds strange since it is a horror movie, yet making the film was an opportunity for me to get out of my comfort zone. I was excited to get inside the female psyche. Independent film is a hard business, and some say it is dead. There is no money and at the end of the night, you know you have to go back to the daily grind the next morning. My hope is my movie will stand out and rescue you from this monotony. With Slaughter Daughter I believe this is entirely possible.”

The webisode playlist is available here.

Full Synopsis:
After being left at the altar 5 years ago, ex-beauty queen Farrah Adjani has receded into her own world. 3 New Posters Released for Ditch Day Massacre - PRESS RELEASE

Water Tree Media Releases Three New Posters for Joe Hendrick's Ditch Day Massacre

“There’s Hell to Pay for Cutting Class!”

Water Tree Media has completed production on the slasher film Ditch Day Massacre, recently. This horrifying film stars Bill Oberst Jr., Katy Foley and Zack Silverman, in a ditch party gone violently wrong. Megan Waters is the producer of this exciting feature. Also,Ditch Day Massacre is a throwback to the tense style of filmmaking from the ‘80s; the killer’s motivations are kept in mystery, until the bloody end. Now, horror fans can preview this feature and channel its course by picking their favourite poster, from the three just released.

The three posters each have their distinctive style. The first graphic shows actor Bill Oberst Jr. as Vick, poised with a nasty looking wood axe. It is simple and scary. The second poster gives us a glimpse of the house where several teens are throwing a high school ditch party. Above the house, the maniac looms above, like a demented reaper. Finally, the third poster features the terrorized teen Jenny, played by Katy Foley. The character Mike (Zack Silverman) can also be seen. Which poster do you like best?

Writer Daniel Coughlin knows the importance of conceptualizing and designing a proper look for a film. Coughling states of these posters and others: “there are those posters that you never forget…like the original Maniac - the artwork draws you in, grabs you and forces you to watch the movie." Graphic artist Jake Deardorff has designed each poster. And now, it is time for fans to pick their favourite.

A contest for picking the best poster will be held at the the Ditch Day Massacre fan page, which can be found here:

Syfy Announces First Casting for Dominion

NEW YORK – September 6, 2013 – Syfy announces the first casting for its upcoming supernatural drama pilot, Dominion, with the signings of Christopher Egan, Tom Wisdom and Alan Dale. Produced by Universal Cable Productions, the pilot is set to begin shooting later this month in Cape Town, South Africa.

Christopher Egan plays “Alex Lannen,” an orphan with both a rebellious and protective streak. Handsome, heroic and fearless, Alex is classified as a “grunt” soldier in Michael’s Archangel Corp but he is destined for more than his lowly classification in Vega’s post-Extermination War society might indicate.

Among his long list of film and television credits in the US and Australia, Christopher Egan was the lead in Ryan Murphy’s pilot Pretty Handsome for HBO, and went on to star in the NBC series, Kings. He played the lead opposite Amanda Seyfried in Gary Winnick’s Letters to Juliet for Summit. Most recently, he starred in ABC pilots Poe, Beauty and the Beast, and Gothica. Christopher is represented by WME, Anonymous Content, and lawyer Karl Austen.

Tom Wisdom plays “Michael,” the greatest of the warrior archangels. Scarred by millennia of battle, Michael is stoic, inscrutable and haunted. Instrumental in helping humanity defeat the angels during the Extermination War, Michael is now entrenched in Vega, using his superior supernatural abilities to defend the city’s inhabitants from enemy attacks.

Tom Wisdom is a British theater, film and television actor. His feature film credits include 300, Pirate Radio, Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2 and The Lightkeepers co-starring Richard Dreyfuss. This fall he co-stars as Count Paris in Romeo and Juliet with Hailee Steinfeld, Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis. Wisdom also starred in the U.K. television movie Sword of Honour and played a recurring role on the series, Above Suspicion. He is represented by UTA, Emptage Hallett, and Affirmative Entertainment.

Alan Dale plays “Rysen,” the general who led the humans to victory against the angels during the “Extermination War.” Responsibilities weigh heavily upon him as ruler of Vega (once known as Las Vegas), one of four cities left standing after the war. He now finds himself negotiating politics in the heavily militarized city, maintaining calm over its stratified society and keeping a watchful eye on his daughter, Claire.

Born and raised in New Zealand, Alan Dale began his acting career in Australia. On American television he has played regular roles on The OC and Ugly Betty, as well as recurring and guest starring roles on Lost, 24, NCIS, Entourage, The Killing, Hot in Cleveland and Once Upon a Time. On the big screen he has appeared in the feature films Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Star Trek Nemesis. He can also be seen in the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the independent film, Grace. Dale was also onstage in London’s West End production of Spamalot. Dale is represented by APA and Management 360.

Syfy Announces Cast Additions for Season Two of Defiance

NEW YORK – September 5, 2013 – Syfy announces additional casting for Season 2 of its highly-rated and groundbreaking drama series, Defiance. William Atherton signs on to portray high-ranking Earth Republic official Viceroy Mercado and Anna Hopkins has inked the role of Earth Republic soldier and documentarian Jessica “Berlin” Rai. Slated for a June 2014 launch, production is currently underway in Toronto, ON for the 13-episode second season of the ambitious series, which delivered an average of 1.5 million viewers 18-49 and 3.2 million total viewers in its first season, based on Live +7 data. Defiance is produced by Universal Cable Productions.

Atherton steps into the supporting role of the jaded, Earth Republic official Viceroy Mercado, Major Pottinger’s (James Murray) commanding officer. Mercado is ruthless, quick tongued and sarcastic, fond of peppering his sentences with obscure old Earth cultural references and mocking younger subordinates for being too young to understand. He sees Pottinger for the manipulative person he is, but grudgingly admits the man gets results. Mercado also has a dark secret that would shock his colleagues and the townspeople of Defiance.

Atherton attended the Drama School at Carnegie Tech and began his career on the New York stage working with many of the country’s leading playwrights including David Rabe, John Guare and Arthur Miller. He got his big break playing hapless fugitive Clovis Poplin in Steven Spielberg’s The Sugarland Express. After this, he garnered major roles in dark drams such as The Day of the Locust and Looking for Mr. Goodbar, as well as the big-budget disaster film The Hindenburg. He also starred as cowboy Jim Lloyd in the groundbreaking 1978 miniseries Centennial. Atherton’s other film credits include Ghostbusters, Real Genius, Die Hard, No Mercy, The Pelican Brief and The Last Samurai. He has also made guest appearances on numerous TV shows including Desperate Housewives, Law & Order, Boston Legal and Monk.

Hopkins joins the cast as the sexy, tough and fearless Jessica “Berlin” Rai, an Earth Republic soldier and documentarian who makes propaganda films that shine a positive light on the Earth Republic occupation of Defiance. Berlin believes in her films’ messages having grown up during the lawless and volatile years of the Pale Wars, and now seeing the government as a means to protect and unite by any means necessary. Sexy and confident, Berlin becomes the center of a passionate love triangle. Hopkins is a Montreal native and holds a Communications degree from Concordia University. She jumped into the acting scene in 2005 with a role in the film Barney’s Version alongside Dustin Hoffman and Paul Giamatti. She has also had appearances in television’s Nikita, Law & Order and Stephen King’s Dead Zone, as well as in the TV movies Human Trafficking, Too Young to Marry and Circle of Friends.

Atherton and Hopkins join the previously announced James Murray as new cast additions to season two of the series. Murray will portray the integral role of Pottinger, the new mayor of Defiance.

Grant Bowler will return as Nolan, along with Julie Benz as Amanda Rosewater, Stephanie Leonidas as Irisa Nolan, Tony Curran as Datak Tarr, Jaime Murray as Stahma Tarr, Graham Greene as Rafe McCawley and Jesse Rath as Alak Tarr. The cast also features Dewshane Williams as Tommy, Trenna Keating as Doc Yewll, Justin Rain as Quentin McCawley and Nicole Munoz as Christie McCawley.

As the story of Defiance resumes, the lives of the townspeople are in drastic turmoil. The Earth Republic has assumed control of the town, with far-reaching consequences including a new mayor. Nolan traverses the badlands to find a lost Irisa, Amanda has an unexpected new role in the town as she searches for Kenya and the Tarr family desperately tries to keep control of their criminal empire in the midst of dramatic changes.

Kevin Murphy (Desperate Housewives, Caprica) resumes his role as executive producer and showrunner. Smallville’s Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin return as executive producers for season two and Michael Taylor serves as consulting producer. Michael Nankin (co-executive producer) is set to direct the season two opener.

Defiance is an unprecedented partnership between Syfy and Trion Worlds and the first-ever convergence of television and online gaming, featuring an interconnected world and storylines that co-exist on both platforms.
